Pico House (Hotel)

Pío Pico and his brother, Andres Pico, in 1869 constructed the Pico House. It was the first three-story first-class hotel to have been built in Los Angeles. It had approximately 80 rooms, numerous large windows, a small interior court, and quaint stairways. Now being restored as part of the Pueblo de Los Ángeles State Historic Park.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
