La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles, the Church of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels, was dedicated December 8, 1822, during Spanish, Mexican, and early American days, and was the only Catholic church in Los Angeles at that time. Today it is the church of the Spanish-speaking people, as it was in the days before the "gringo" came.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
