Cadw's description

The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Ancient Monument.

The monument comprises the remains of a nucleated hut circle settlement, set within the angle of an early field wall. Three hut circles remain, set around a central yard with evidence for a surrounding enclosure bank. The settlement probably dates to the Iron Age or Romano-British period (c. 800 BC - AD 400). Another, probably contemporary, settlement is situated to the east and visible evidence of an early field system in the form of lynchets and banks surrounds the site. It is possible that the settlements could represent expansion and development over time.

The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement practices. It is an important relic of the prehistoric landscape and retains significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of environmental and structural evidence, including preserved internal and external floor levels.

The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
