Omschrijving
Cluster 28. Houten loods F.
NIEUWE HOLLANDSE WATERLINIE
Inleiding

Description
Cluster 28. Wooden Shed F.
NEW HOLLANDIC WATERLINE
Introduction
WOODEN SHED F, as an example of non-bomb-proof storage of (mobile) materials. Over the course of decades, wooden, stone and metal ('tin') sheds have been constructed in various locations within and outside fort grounds to serve as (provisional or permanent) storage space, shelter, accommodation for people or materials, hospital, fire station, horse stable, guardhouse, etc. A large part of these sheds has since deteriorated, been demolished or relocated, but others still exist in situ. Sometimes these are particularly simple structures of small scale, but there are also more complex and larger examples. Of the wooden sheds built in the 19th century on the Fort aan de Klop, two still exist - Shed E, the largest and situated closest to the tower, and Shed D (/a) - which are located beside each other on the southern part of the fort. Furthermore, there is still an iron shed, which was installed around 1905, and this wooden shed from 1914. The shed was built to the west of the still-existing wooden Shed D (/a). Outside the actual fort grounds, there are also a Wooden Shed / Barrack H and a Wooden Barn. Like the other sheds, Shed F was restored in the early years of the 21st century, during which additional light access was created high in the longitudinal walls. The building now serves as a meeting room.
Description
WOODEN SHED F, built in 1914 on the Fort aan de Klop as an extension of the accommodation. The shed (approx. 20 x 6.50 m) is composed of horizontally arranged wooden components and is covered by a gabled roof. The walls are sparingly provided with reconstructed, approximately square, four-paned windows. Wooden doors.
Valuation
The WOODEN SHED F on the Fort aan de Klop is of general importance because of:
* Cultural-historical values as part of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie as this was designed by C.R.T. Kraijenhoff and initially realised from 1815 by him, Jan Blanken and major-engineer Willem Offerhaus and subsequently strengthened and improved by others over approximately 125 years.
* Architectural-historical values, in particular as an expression of wooden construction related to military-strategic building practice, which is based on: a. the system of inundation and access defence (19th century), b. the race with increasingly powerful offensive weapons (19th and 20th centuries).
This concerns a wooden shed added to the Fort aan de Klop in 1914.
* Ensemble value and situational values as part of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Also because of the functional and physical coherence with the other components of the complex.
* The component is representative because it is an example of a wooden storage building added later to an existing fortification.
* The component is reasonably well preserved because the principal form and building details, as well as various elements have remained intact, or have been restored by shell restoration.
