Inleiding
RELIEF BRUILOFT TE KANA, rechts vooraan in het park gelegen.
De sculptuur, uitgevoerd in witgeverfde kunststeen, werd in 1920 in het park geplaatst ter gelegenheid van het 700-jarig bestaan van Handel als bedevaartsoord.
De totale afmetingen van de sculptuur bedragen circa zes meter in breedte bij een hoogte van circa twee meter.
Omschrijving
Groot RELIËF in classicistische omlijsting, uitgevoerd in steen. Op een groot basement staan corintische pilasters die een met hout betimmerde kroonlijst dragen. In het midden opschrift DE BRUILOFT TE CANA IN GALILEA/JESUS' EERSTE WONDER OP VOORSPRAAK VAN MARIA. Daarboven een nis met afgeschuinde zijden die het reliëf bevat, aan weerszijden openingen, boven korte doodlopende trapjes. Boven één van die trapjes een ovaal met opschrift TILBURG FUNDAMENTUM DEDIT.
Voor het geheel is een gazon aangelegd, aan de zijkanten met bloembakken op pijlers, aan de voorzijde afgescheiden door een reeks paaltjes waartussen ijzeren kettingen zijn gehangen.
Waardering
Het RELIËF is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling en als toonbeeld van de Mariadevotie in Noord-Brabant. Daarnaast is het van typologisch belang als onderdeel van een processiepark uit de vroege twintigste eeuw. Het park heeft architectuurhistorische waarden als voorbeeld van een parkaanleg met monumenten in diverse stijlen. Het heeft ensemblewaarden vanwege de situering en de samenhang met het kerkgebouw en de relatie met de ontwikkeling van Handel als bedevaartsoord en kloosternederzetting.

RELIEF WEDDING AT CANA, situated in the front right of the park.
The sculpture, executed in whitewashed artificial stone, was placed in the park in 1920 on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Handel as a pilgrimage site.
The total dimensions of the sculpture measure approximately six metres in width by a height of approximately two metres.
Description
Large RELIEF in classical frame, executed in stone. On a large base stand Corinthian pilasters supporting a cornice clad in wood. In the centre an inscription THE WEDDING AT CANA IN GALILEE / JESUS' FIRST MIRACLE AT THE INTERCESSION OF MARY. Above it a niche with sloped sides containing the relief, with openings on either side, above short stepped passages. Above one of these passages an oval with inscription TILBURG FUNDAMENTUM DEDIT.
In front of the whole a lawn is laid out, at the sides with flower boxes on pillars, at the front separated by a series of bollards with iron chains hanging between them.
Valuation
The RELIEF is of general importance. It has cultural-historical significance as an expression of a spiritual development and as an exemplar of Marian devotion in North Brabant. Additionally it is of typological importance as part of a processional park from the early twentieth century. The park has architectural-historical values as an example of a park layout with monuments in various styles. It has ensemble values because of its location and coherence with the church building and the relationship with the development of Handel as a pilgrimage site and monastic settlement.
