NEW HOLLAND WATERLINE

Introduction

SLUICE (at Afsluitdijk), known as the Brakelse Sluis, as a hydraulic engineering component of the New Holland Waterline, serving to inundate and dam an inundation pond on the north side of the Maasdijk. The defence system of the New Holland Waterline was primarily based on the controlled flooding of (large) land surfaces.
