Inleiding
Het SCHOOLPEIN met TUIN behorende bij het complex Tweede Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum (thans -2009- Segbroekcollege) is ontworpen in samenhang met school en conciërgewoning door architect J.J.P. Oud en aangelegd in de periode 1949-1956.
Omschrijving
Het SCHOOLPLEIN is geplaveid in een rastervormig blokpatroon van schokbetonnen vierkante platen die door klinkerbanden worden omsloten; het plein en een deel van de school worden omgeven door een bestrating van betontegels. Binnen het raster zijn enkele vlakken gevuld met een lage beplanting en enkele bomen. Door de wijze van bestrating wordt de ligging van de bouwdelen op het perceel geaccentueerd. Rondom het schoolplein en de school ligt een eenvoudig aangelegde TUIN met gazons en onder andere schooltuin, bomen, heesterbeplanting en afscheidingen van hagen. Ten zuiden van het schoolplein ligt de kleine ommuurde privé- tuin van de conciërgewoning.
Waardering
Het SCHOOLPLEIN met TUIN behorende bij het complex Tweede Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum van architect J.J.P. Oud is van algemeen belang als toonbeeld van de vroege Wederopbouw vanaf 1940 vanwege:
- de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische betekenis als voorbeeld van een gaaf bewaard gebleven naoorlogs schoolplein met tuin, vanwege de kwaliteit van het ontwerp, met zijn zorgvuldige detaillering en materiaalgebruik, alsmede de plaats die de aanleg inneemt in het oeuvre van architect J.J.P. Oud;
- de stedenbouwkundige waarde vanwege de situering van schoolplein en tuin in relatie tot de hierop gelegen school en conciërgewoning en de ligging binnen het wederopbouwplan van W.M. Introduction

Description
The SCHOOLYARD is paved in a grid-form block pattern of concrete square slabs enclosed by clinker borders; the yard and part of the school are surrounded by paving of concrete tiles. Within the grid are some areas filled with low planting and some trees. The manner of paving emphasizes the location of the building components on the plot. Around the schoolyard and the school lies a simply laid out GARDEN with lawns and including a school garden, trees, shrub planting and hedged boundaries. To the south of the schoolyard lies the small walled private garden of the caretaker's residence.
Valuation
The SCHOOLYARD with GARDEN belonging to the complex Tweede Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum by architect J.J.P. Oud is of general importance as an exemplar of early Post-war Reconstruction from 1940 because of:
