Inleiding
De CONCIERGEWONING, die deel uitmaakt van het complex Tweede Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum (thans -2009- Segbroekcollege), ligt bij de entree tot de school op het schoolplein. Het woonhuis dateert uit de periode 1949-1956 en is ontworpen door architect J.J.P. Oud. Het is het enige vrijstaande woonhuis dat Oud ontwierp.
Omschrijving
De CONCIERGEWONING heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, is een bouwlaag hoog en voorzien van een plat dak. De woning heeft gevels van gele baksteen (Waalsteen) en geveldelen van blauw geglazuurde handvormsteen. De noordgevel is witgepleisterd en geschilderd. De ramen zijn van staal. De gevelindeling en de indeling van het interieur zijn vrijwel gaaf behouden gebleven. De hoofdentree is inpandig gerealiseerd. Links naast de entree een betonnen bloembak. De gevels aan de zijden van het schoolplein zijn gesloten van karakter en aan de bovenzijde, onder de dakrand voorzien van een doorgaande glasstrook. De zuidzijde van de woning grenst aan de ommuurde privé-tuin en is voorzien van grotere vensteropeningen en entrees. Aan de achterzijde van de woning, is op een dwarsgeplaatste muur die tegen de hoog opgetrokken gevel staat, een kleine sculptuur van majolica in de vorm van een kat van kunstenaar Aat van den IJssel geplaatst.
Waardering
De CONCIERGEWONING die deel uitmaakt van het complex Tweede Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum van architect J.J.P. Oud is van algemeen belang als toonbeeld van de vroege Wederopbouw vanaf 1940 vanwege:
- de architectuurhistorische betekenis als voorbeeld van een gaaf bewaard gebleven naoorlogse conciërgewoning, vanwege de bijzondere kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, met zijn zorgvuldige detaillering en materiaalgebruik van in- en exterieur en de toepassing van monumentale kunst van Aat van den IJssel, alsmede de plaats die het woonhuis inneemt in het oeuvre van architect J.J.P. Oud;
- de kunsthistorische waarde vanwege de majolica sculptuur van Aat van den IJssel;
- de stedenbouwkundige waarde vanwege haar situering op het schoolpein in relatie tot de school en de ligging binnen het wederopbouwplan van W.M. Dudok ter plaatse van een deel van de voormalige Atlantikwall, ingeklemd in het segment tussen Segbroeklaan en Goudsbloemlaan;
- de functionele, compositorische en visuele relatie tussen de complexonderdelen.

Introduction
The CARETAKER'S HOUSE, which forms part of the complex Tweede Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum (now -2009- Segbroekcollege), is located at the entrance to the school on the school grounds. The residential building dates from the period 1949-1956 and was designed by architect J.J.P. Oud. It is the only detached residential house that Oud designed.
Description
The CARETAKER'S HOUSE has a rectangular floor plan, is one storey high and provided with a flat roof. The house has facades of yellow brick (Dutch bond) and facade sections of blue glazed hand-moulded brick. The north facade is plastered white and painted. The windows are of steel. The facade layout and the interior layout have remained largely intact. The main entrance is realised internally. To the left of the entrance a concrete planter. The facades on the sides of the school grounds are closed in character and at the top, beneath the roof edge, provided with a continuous strip of glazing. The south side of the house borders the walled private garden and is provided with larger window openings and entrances. On the rear of the house, on a transversely placed wall that stands against the high-built facade, a small majolica sculpture in the form of a cat by artist Aat van den IJssel is placed.
Valuation
The CARETAKER'S HOUSE which forms part of the complex Tweede Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum by architect J.J.P. Oud is of general importance as an exemplary monument of the early Reconstruction from 1940 because of:
- the architectural-historical significance as an example of an intact preserved post-war caretaker's house, because of the special qualities of the design, with its careful detailing and material use of interior and exterior and the application of monumental art by Aat van den IJssel, as well as the place which the residential house occupies in the oeuvre of architect J.J.P. Oud;
- the art-historical value because of the majolica sculpture by Aat van den IJssel;
- the urban planning value because of its situation on the school grounds in relation to the school and the location within the reconstruction plan by W.M. Dudok at the site of part of the former Atlantikwall, wedged in the segment between Segbroeklaan and Goudsbloemlaan;
- the functional, compositional and visual relation between the complex components.
