Inleiding
BOMVRIJE REMISE R, als gebouwd onderdeel van het Fort bij Vechten en van een type dat aan drie zijden en bovenop is voorzien van een aarden dekking en dat alleen een gevel aan de keelzijde bezit. Remises zijn gebouwen voor opslag / berging van materieel en buskruit e.d. Afhankelijk van de periode van ontstaan - en daarmee van de te verwachten inslagkracht van projectielen - werd van 'bomvrije gebouwen' gesproken, wanneer ze werden geacht bestand te zijn tegen een van tevoren gedefinieerd aantal inslagen van zwaar kaliber.
Omschrijving
Op het noordwestelijke keelbastion gelegen (brikken)betonnen BOMVRIJE REMISE R, oorspronkelijk uit 1881, bestaande uit een of meer ruimten achter een gemetselde gevel met afgeschuinde bovenhoeken. De gevel is aan de bovenzijde met een iets uitstekende rollaag afgemetseld. Op de middenas bevindt zich een dubbele schuifdeur. De gevel is vermoedelijk in de jaren dertig van de 20ste eeuw vernieuwd.
Waardering
De BOMVRIJE REMISE R is van algemeen belang vanwege:
* Cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie, zoals deze is ontworpen door C.R.T. Kraijenhoff en in eerste aanleg vanaf 1815 door hem, Jan Blanken en majoor-ingenieur Willem Offerhaus is gerealiseerd en daarna door anderen gedurende ongeveer 125 jaar versterkt en verbeterd.
* Krijgshistorische waarden als onderdeel van een aaneengesloten militaire verdedigingslinie tussen de voormalige Zuiderzee en de Biesbosch. Deze bestond hoofdzakelijk uit een samenhangend systeem van inundatievelden en bijbehorende inundatiemiddelen en van schootsvelden. Dit systeem werd aangevuld met diverse, uit verschillende perioden daterende typen gebouwde of aangelegde (verdedigings)werken die dienden tot of bijdroegen aan afsluiting van niet te inunderen terreinen of andere accessen.
* Architectuurhistorische waarden, in het bijzonder als uiting van de militair-strategische bouwkunde, die gebaseerd is - op het systeem van inundatie en accesverdediging (19de eeuw) - en op de wedloop met de zich versterkende offensieve middelen (19de eeuw).
Het betreft hier een voorbeeld van een remise uit 1881, die enige tientallen jaren later een wijziging in de gevel onderging.
* Ensemblewaarde en situationele waarden, als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Tevens vanwege de functionele en fysieke samenhang met de overige onderdelen van het complex.
* Het bouwwerk is representatief (karakteristiek) omdat het nog steeds enige fysieke kenmerken vertoont die destijds tot de bouw aanleiding waren.

Introduction
BOMBPROOF MAGAZINE R, as a built component of the Fort at Vechten and of a type that is provided with an earth covering on three sides and on top and that has only a facade on the gorge side. Description
Located on the northwestern gorge bastion, a (brick)concrete BOMBPROOF MAGAZINE R, originally from 1881, consisting of one or more rooms behind a masonry facade with bevelled upper corners. The facade is finished at the top with a slightly projecting roll moulding. On the central axis is a double sliding door. The facade was presumably renewed in the 1930s.
