Inleiding
Tussen de toegangsweg vanaf de Amsterdamseweg en de brug over het water staat een PORTIERSLOGE met driehoekige overstek.
Omschrijving
De PORTIERSLOGE uit 1958 is ontworpen door Marcel Breuer en heeft een wigvormige plattegrond. Het driehoekig "omgekeerd" schilddak van beton steekt aan de brugzijde over en fungeert als luifel. Dit "holle" dak bestaat uit drie schilden die naar binnen knikken. Uit dergelijke dakelementen zijn ook de gevouwen schaaldakconstructies van het hoofdgebouw en de kantine opgebouwd. Het ingesloten platte gedeelte bevat de regenafvoer die in de centrale dragende Y-vormige kolom is opgenomen. De achter (noord-)gevel omvat vier traveeën; de middelste twee hebben aan de buitenzijde blauw verglaasd metselwerk. De plint is van zwart metselwerk met zwarte voegen. De west- en oostgevel omvatten ieder drie traveeën met elk twee draairamen (in lengterichting). De voor (zuid-)gevel bestaat uit een glazen pui met geschilderde houten deur.
Waardering
De PORTIERSLOGE is van algemeen belang:
- wegens de ensemblewaarde als complexonderdeel van het ontwerp waarbij de portiersloge als een van de objecten behorend bij het hoofdgebouw bewust is meegenomen in het ontwerpproces en als onlosmakelijk geheel met het gebouw zelf en de parkaanleg beschouwd dient te worden;
- wegens de cultuurhistorische waarden waarbij de architectuur een uiting is van de sociaal-economische ontwikkelingen rond de werkomgeving;

Introduction
Between the access road from the Amsterdamseweg and the bridge over the water stands a PORTER'S LODGE with triangular overhang.
Description
The PORTER'S LODGE from 1958 was designed by Marcel Breuer and has a wedge-shaped floor plan. The triangular "inverted" hipped roof of concrete overhangs on the bridge side and functions as a canopy. This "hollow" roof consists of three sections that bend inward. From such roof elements, the folded shell roof structures of the main building and the canteen are also constructed. The enclosed flat section contains the rain drainage which is incorporated in the central supporting Y-shaped column. The rear (north) facade comprises four bays; the middle two have blue glazed masonry on the outside. The plinth is of black masonry with black joints. The west and east facades each comprise three bays with two casement windows each (in lengthwise direction). The front (south) facade consists of a glazed curtain wall with a painted wooden door.
