Omschrijving onderdeel 19: Munitiemagazijn M6 - 298.
Inleiding
Het voormalig MUNITIEMAGAZIJN M6 (298) maakt deel uit van het cluster Sectorpark Zaandam en is gebouwd in 1917 (andere bron vermeldt 1932 als bouwjaar) voor de opslag van munitie. Het Sectorpark Zaandam maakte deel uit van de Stelling van Amsterdam en ligt in het noordoostelijk deel van het Hembrugterrein. Het Sectorpark Amsterdam is in de jaren 1950 opgeheven.
Het Sectorpark was met een hek afgescheiden van het Militair Terrein en de gebouwen hadden geen relatie met het staatsbedrijf Artillerie-Inrichtingen. Het Sectorpark had een eigen ingang aan de kant van het Zijkanaal G en een eigen aanlegsteiger. Hoewel er sprake is van twee typen munitiemagazijnen - twee grote en twee kleine gebouwen - zijn deze qua indeling niet identiek. Rondom de gebouwen van het hele cluster zijn naoorlogse bliksemafleiders geplaatst.
De munitiemagazijnen zijn onderling gescheiden door (oorspronkelijk onbegroeide) aarden beschermingswallen van ongeveer 4 meter hoogte, die tezamen een kruis vormen. Het cluster is eveneens door een aarden wal gescheiden van de ernaast gelegen cluster A-gebouwen. Rond M6-M9 lag een inmiddels verdwenen smalspoor met aftakkingen naar de gebouwen. In gebouwen M8-299 en M9-301 zijn hiervan in het interieur nog resten te vinden alsmede draaiplateaus, loopkatten en hijsinstallaties.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond met een oppervlakte van 14.20 x 10.70 meter en is opgetrokken in gewapend beton met iets verdiepte muurvlakken tussen de kolommen. De muren zijn gepleisterd en grijs geschilderd. De voormalige ventilatieluiken in de muren zijn dichtgezet. Het zeer flauw hellende dak is van beton afgedekt met bitumen en wordt gekenmerkt door een overstek. Het dak is als een lichte constructie er enigszins los bovenop gezet met het oog op mogelijke ontploffingen (zgn. plofdak).
In de voorgevel (oost) zitten in het midden een paar dubbele stalen deuren met cijfer 1 en rechts daarnaast een loopdeur met cijfer 2. Tussen de deuren hangt een bordje met M6 erop vermeld. In de zuidoost gevel (linker zijgevel) zit links van het midden ook een paar dubbele deuren met cijfer 3. De rechterzijgevel en de achtergevel zijn gesloten maar ook geleed door kolommen.
Het magazijn is in drie ruimten ingedeeld met een ruwe afwerking op de muren (de plank- en nerfstructuur is nog zichtbaar in het beton). Aan de binnenzijde zijn de dichtgemaakte ventilatie-openingen nog zichtbaar en afsluitbaar met houten luiken. Volgens de ontwerptekening was M6 vroeger aangetakt aan de oostzijde op de smalspoorbaan, maar die aftakking is thans verdwenen.
Waardering
Het voormalig MUNITIEMAGAZIJN M6 (298) is van cultuur-, militair-, en architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een betonnen militair magazijn uit de eerste helft van de 20ste eeuw en tevens van belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van de Stelling van Amsterdam, meer in het bijzonder het voormalige Sectorpark Zaandam op het Hembrugterrein.

Introduction
The former AMMUNITION MAGAZINE M6 (298) is part of the Sectorpark Zaandam cluster and was built in 1917 (another source mentions 1932 as the construction year) for the storage of ammunition. The Sectorpark Zaandam was part of the Stelling van Amsterdam and is located in the northeastern part of the Hembrugterrein. The Sectorpark Amsterdam was decommissioned in the 1950s.
The Sectorpark was separated from the Military Terrain by a fence and the buildings had no relation to the state enterprise Artillerie-Inrichtingen. The Sectorpark had its own entrance on the side of the Zijkanaal G and its own landing pier. Although there are two types of ammunition magazines - two large and two small buildings - these are not identical in layout. Post-war lightning conductors have been installed around the buildings of the entire cluster.
The ammunition magazines are separated from each other by (originally unplanted) earth protective embankments of approximately 4 metres high, which together form a cross. Description
The building has a rectangular floor plan with an area of 14.20 x 10.70 metres and is constructed in reinforced concrete with slightly recessed wall surfaces between the columns. The walls are plastered and painted grey. The former ventilation openings in the walls have been sealed. The very gently sloping roof is covered with concrete and bitumen and is characterised by an overhang. The roof is set somewhat loosely on top as a light structure with a view to possible explosions (so-called blast roof).
In the front facade (east) there is a pair of double steel doors numbered 1 in the middle and a pedestrian door numbered 2 to the right of it. Between the doors hangs a sign with M6 noted on it. In the southeast facade (left side facade) there is also a pair of double doors numbered 3 to the left of the centre. The right side facade and the rear facade are closed but are also articulated by columns.
The magazine is divided into three spaces with rough finishing on the walls (the plank and wood grain structure is still visible in the concrete). On the inside, the sealed ventilation openings are still visible and can be closed with wooden shutters. According to the design drawing, M6 was formerly connected to the east side to the narrow-gauge railway, but that connection has since disappeared.
Valuation
The former AMMUNITION MAGAZINE M6 (298) is of cultural, military and architectural-historical value as an example of a concrete military magazine from the first half of the 20th century and is also of importance as a historical-functional component of the Stelling van Amsterdam, in particular the former Sectorpark Zaandam on the Hembrugterrein.
