KOEPEL ANNEX DIENSTWONING, behorend bij de historische buitenplaats De Paauw is gesitueerd aan de Rijksstraatweg. Aan de entree op de hoek van de Rijksstraatweg en Raadhuislaan staat een in oorsprong waarschijnlijk uit omstreeks 1800 daterende dienstwoning, die in 1859 naar ontwerp van architect H.H.A. Wentzel in neoclassicistische stijl is verbouwd. Aan het pand werden onder meer een terras en pergola toegevoegd. Het bakstenen pand met souterrain en bel-etage op rechthoekige plattegrond onder een flauw hellend zinken roevendak. heeft aan de voorzijde een koepelvormige uitbouw voorzien van afgesnoten hoeken. Aan de overige drie gevels een uitgebouwd souterrain en daarboven een terras met pergola van gemetselde kolommen en houten liggers. De gevels zijn boven een hardstenen plint opgetrokken in rode baksteen en worden ingedeeld met zesruits- en vierruits vensters en deuren onder strekken en rollagen. In de gevels sierankers en een beëindiging met houten fries en kroonlijst. De voorgevel (zuidoost) aan de Rijksstraatweg heeft een blind souterrain en onder de vensters van de bel-etage in maaswerk uitgevoerd siermetselwerk. Voor de rechter zijgevel (zuidwest) een gemetseld terras dat via een trap aan de achterzijde (noordwest) te bereiken is. Oorspronkelijk stond naast de trap een zinken beeld op sokkel, voorstellende St. Joris en de draak, die in 1918 is gestolen. De kapitelen van de kolommen aan weerszijden van de trap zijn uitgevoerd als mannenhoofd met vederkroon. De borstweringen tussen de kolommen gemetseld maaswerk als in de voorgevel. In de achtergevel (noordwest) zijn de kolommen van de pergola ter hoogte van het souterrain omgezet in pilasters. Het souterrain telt vijf traveeën met in de middelste vensteras een deur. De bel-etage telt drie traveeën met achtruits dubbele glasdeur in een geprofileerde houten lijst tussen twee vierruits vensters. De achtergevel wordt bekroond door een fronton. Bij de restauratie in 1972 is de zuidelijke zijgevel toegevoegd en is bij de andere vleugel het maaswerk verdwenen. Ook is het deel van de pergola met trap en hermenkapitelen, die aan de noordzijde zat, verplaatst naar de westzijde.

De KOEPEL ANNEX DIENSTWONING is in cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig opzicht van algemeen belang:

CUPOLA ANNEX SERVICE DWELLING, belonging to the historic country estate De Paauw is situated on the Rijksstraatweg. At the entrance on the corner of the Rijksstraatweg and Raadhuislaan stands a service dwelling which in origin probably dates from around 1800, and which was rebuilt in neoclassical style in 1859 according to the design of architect H.H.A. Wentzel. The property was added with, among other things, a terrace and pergola. The brick building with basement and piano nobile on a rectangular ground plan beneath a gently sloping zinc roof with glazing bars. has on the front side a cupola-shaped extension provided with cut-off corners. On the other three facades an extended basement and above it a terrace with pergola of brick columns and wooden beams. The facades above a stone plinth are built in red brick and are divided with six-pane and four-pane windows and doors under stretchers and arched brickwork. In the facades ornamental wall anchors and a termination with wooden frieze and cornice. The front facade (south-east) on the Rijksstraatweg has a blind basement and below the windows of the piano nobile decorative brickwork executed in tracery. In front of the right side facade (south-west) a brick terrace which can be reached via a staircase on the rear side (north-west). Originally next to the staircase stood a zinc statue on a pedestal, depicting St George and the Dragon, which was stolen in 1918. The capitals of the columns on either side of the staircase are executed as male heads with feather crown. The balustrades between the columns brick tracery as in the front facade. In the rear facade (north-west) the columns of the pergola at the level of the basement are converted into pilasters. The basement comprises five bays with in the middle bay a door opening. The piano nobile comprises three bays with rear-pane double glass door in a moulded wooden frame between two four-pane windows. The rear facade is crowned by a pediment. At the restoration in 1972 the southern side facade was added and in the other wing the tracery disappeared. Also the part of the pergola with staircase and herme capitals, which was on the north side, was moved to the west side.
