Inleiding
Voormalig LIJKENHUIS, deel uitmakend van het uit 1930-1933 daterende complex Quarantaine-inrichting in Zakelijk-Expressionistische trant en gesitueerd in de zuid-oostelijke hoek van het terrein, zuidelijk van de ziekenbarak. In verband met de aanleg van droogdok 'Prins Bernard' van de RDM werd het eerste mortuarium van het complex afgebroken en circa dertig meter in westelijke richting gereconstrueerd met gebruik van oorspronkelijke onderdelen waarbij alleen de deur in de oostgevel naar de noordgevel werd verplaatst. Oorspronkelijk omvatte het lijkenhuis een sectiekamer met granieten sectietafel. Het object is inmiddels aangepast en aan de oostzijde is een toevoeging gerealiseerd om het geschikt te maken voor bewoning. Hierbij is het voormalige lijkenhuis goed herkenbaar gebleven.
Omschrijving
LIJKENHUIS. Op een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken, eenvoudig gebouw van een bouwlaag afgedekt door een met rode pannen bedekt overkragend zadeldak met in de nok een opbouw met ventilatierooster. De westgevel heeft in het midden onder een betonnen luifel een dubbele deur. De oostgevel is blind uitgevoerd. De zuidgevel heeft twee hoge, brede vensters. De noordelijke gevel bevat oorspronkelijk een dubbele deur conform de westgevel.
Waardering
Voormalig LIJKENHUIS, van algemeen belang vanwege cultuurhistorische waarde als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het in 1930-1933 gebouwde complex Quarantaine-inrichting.

Introduction
Former MORTUARY, forming part of the Quarantine Facility complex dating from 1930-1933 in Businesslike-Expressionist style and situated in the south-eastern corner of the site, south of the hospital ward. In connection with the construction of dry dock 'Prins Bernard' of the RDM, the first mortuary of the complex was demolished and reconstructed approximately thirty metres in a westerly direction using original components, with only the door in the east facade being relocated to the north facade. Originally the mortuary comprised a post-mortem room with a granite post-mortem table. The object has since been adapted and an addition has been realised on the east side to make it suitable for habitation. In doing so, the former mortuary has remained clearly recognisable.
Description
MORTUARY. Built on a rectangular floor plan, a simple building of one storey covered by a gabled roof covered with red tiles and overhanging with in the ridge a structure with ventilation grille. The west facade has in the middle under a concrete canopy a double door. The east facade is executed blind. The south facade has two high, wide windows. The north facade originally contains a double door conforming to the west facade.
Valuation
Former MORTUARY, of general importance due to its cultural-historical value as a historically-functional component of the Quarantine Facility complex built in 1930-1933.
