Inleiding
Voormalig ZUSTERHUIS deel uitmakend van het uit 1930-1933 daterende complex Quarantaine-inrichting in zakelijk-expressionistische trant en gesitueerd aan de noordelijke rand van het terrein, oostelijk van de opzichterswoning.
Omschrijving
ZUSTERHUIS. Op een onregelmatige plattegrond van twee haaks op elkaar gesitueerde vleugels opgetrokken gebouw van een bouwlaag en een kapverdieping onder een met rode pannen bedekt overkragend schilddak, dat boven de middenrisaliet hoger is opgetrokken en is voorzien van een hoog opgemetselde schoorsteen. De hoofdingang bevindt zich in de oostgevel onder een betonnen luifel in het midden van de loggia van het risalerende volume. De ingang wordt in de loggia geflankeerd door drie smalle hoge vensters. Aan weerszijden van de loggia in de middenrisaliet twee hoge en bredere vensters met roedenverdeling. In de hoger opgetrokken kap van dit risalerende deel is een lage vensterstrook van vier drieruitsventers aangebracht. Rechts van de risaliet bevinden zich drie hoge en brede vensters met roedenverdeling en links twee kleine, smalle vensters. Helemaal rechts een uitspringend bouwvolume van de haaks op het hoofdvolume gesitueerde vleugel met de lange zijde georiënteerd op het zuiden. De oostgevel heeft in het midden van het risalerende bouwdeel vier hoge vensters met roedenverdeling geflankeerd door twee hoge vensters. Voor het overige is de oostgevel identiek aan de westgevel met een spiegelbeeldige opzet. De noordgevel heeft in het midden een risalerend volume met een lagere kap. Hier vijf hoge vensters met roedenverdeling. De terugliggende geveldelen aan weerszijden hiervan zijn blind uitgevoerd. De dwarsvleugel heeft een rechthoekig plattegrond en telt eveneens een bouwlaag en een (lagere) kapverdieping. De zuidgevel heeft een symmetrische geleding met in het midden drie paar hoge vensters met roedenverdeling met aan weerszijden hiervan een smal en een hoog venster conform de overige vensters. De noordgevel heeft aan weerszijden van het hoofdvolume vier lagere vensters met roedenverdeling en in de uiteinden een hoger venster conform de overige vensters. In het interieur is onder andere de aanwezigheid van een grote (recreatie)zaal in het hoofdvolume kenmerkend.

Voormalig ZUSTERHUIS als beeldbepalend en historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het in 1930-1933 gebouwde complex Quarantaine-inrichting, van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde, alsook vanwege de ensemble- en situationele waarde in relatie tot de omringende complexonderdelen.

Former SISTERS' HOUSE forming part of the Quarantine Facility complex dating from 1930-1933 in businesslike-expressionist style and situated at the northern edge of the site, east of the superintendent's residence.
Description
SISTERS' HOUSE. Built on an irregular floor plan of two wings set at right angles to each other, a building of one storey and a roof space storey under a hipped roof covered with red tiles, which is raised higher above the central risalit and provided with a high masonry chimney. The main entrance is located in the east facade under a concrete canopy in the middle of the loggia of the projecting volume. The entrance is flanked in the loggia by three narrow high windows. On either side of the loggia in the central risalit two high and wider windows with glazing bars. In the higher roof space of this projecting part a low window strip of four three-paned windows is installed. To the right of the risalit is a projecting building volume of the wing set at right angles to the main volume with its long side oriented towards the south. The east facade has in the middle of the projecting building section four high windows with glazing bars flanked by two high windows. For the rest, the east facade is identical to the west facade with a mirror-image arrangement. The north facade has a projecting volume in the middle with a lower roof. Here five high windows with glazing bars. The recessed facade sections on either side of this are executed blind.
