Omschrijving onderdeel 9: POORTGEBOUW behorende tot de buitenplaats Borgharen.
Het naar het dorp gekeerde poortgebouw met portierswoning is in 1897 gebouwd naar ontwerp van P.J.H. Cuypers. Het poortgebouw ligt aan de Spekstraat en is op vierkante grondslag opgetrokken in baksteen met hardstenen speklagen en omlijstingen. De eenlaagse poort onder een steil opgaand met leien gedekt schilddak heeft op de rechterhoek aan de Spekstraat een uitgebouwd torentje onder een ingesnoerde klok/peervormige spits. In de voor- en achtergevel een rondboogvormige doorgang van mergel?hardsteen met aan weerszijden een stenen oeil de boeuff en sierankers (4). Daarboven een opgemetselde dakkapel met klokvormige gevel; rondboog raam.
De zijgevel aan de zuidwestkant heeft een kapelachtige uitbouw van zuilen onder een rondboog en een trapgeveltje.

Het POORTGEBOUW is van algemeen belang:

Description of component 9: GATE LODGE belonging to the country house Borgharen.
The gate lodge facing the village with porter's lodge was built in 1897 after a design by P.J.H. Cuypers. The gate lodge is situated on Spekstraat and is erected on a square plan in brick with sandstone string courses and surrounds. The single-storey gate under a steeply pitched hipped roof covered with slate has on the right corner at Spekstraat a projecting turret under a constricted clock/pear-shaped spire. In the front and rear facades a round-arched passage of marl-sandstone with on either side a stone oeil de boeuff and ornamental wall anchors (4). Above it a built-up dormer with bell-shaped gable; round-arched window.
The side facade on the southwest side has a chapel-like projection of columns under a round arch and a small stepped gable.
