Omschrijving
Waardering
De PACHTHOEVE is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- als karakteristiek en functioneel onderdeel behorend tot de buitenplaats;

Description
Description of component 11: TENANT FARM belonging to the country house Borgharen.
Opposite the castle and to the northeast of the moat lies an elongated farmstead which in its origins dates from the mid-17th century and underwent major alterations in the course of the 19th century. On the Tranchet map of 1803 and the cadastral plan from 1840 it can be seen that the elongated farmstead originally lay directly opposite the castle and formed an almost closed courtyard plan with only one opening in line with the castle. On Spekstraat was a brewery.
The farm was largely demolished around 1888 and relocated to Spekstraat. The whole consists of different building masses of different heights (one, one-and-a-half and two storeys under a roof) and sizes, but all erected in brick under saddle roofs covered with slate and flat tiles with broad overhang, (arched) doors and windows. The farm is formed by a gate lodge on Spekstraat (1891), a large harvest barn (1888), a right-angled long wing with stables, bakehouse and residential section (1891), which then turns again, short residential wing (17th century). Also still a detached pig sty (1891). The courtyard is entirely paved with tiles.
Gate lodge. On the left at Spekstraat the entrance through a segmental passage between buttresses and under a stepped Flemish gable with sandstone capping. The single-storey building under a saddle roof covered with tiles provided with an overhang has to the left of the passage four ventilation slits and to the right two.
This adjoins a tall and large harvest barn consisting of two storeys of brick and natural stone under a saddle roof covered with slate with overhang on corbels. The symmetrically arranged front facade has a central round-arched gate passage with sandstone mouldings flanked by two rows of three ventilation slits. In the courtyard-side facade three rectangularly framed door openings. Particularly noteworthy is the roof truss structure consisting of iron and wood on brick arches.
Further along Spekstraat a brick wall with projecting plinth and two string courses.
The long wing on the courtyard side which stands at right angles to the gate lodge, consists from left to right of a horse stable, a single-storey intermediate section and the dwelling house (partly 17th- partly 19th-century) with bakehouse. Dwelling house of one-and-a-half storeys, ornamental wall anchors, drip moulding and marl moulding under wooden gutter, arched windows, a single old cross window. On the 17th-century facade on the castle side traces of 'dead head red' have been found. Inside sandstone chimney, staircase, cellar with barrel vault, sandstone wash basin.
The low brick pig sty on rectangular plan consists of one storey under a saddle roof covered with flat tiles. In the long facades a series of arched stable doors. Inside built-up pig sties with arched passages with partitions on either side of the central passage.
Valuation
The TENANT FARM is of general importance:
- owing to its age;
- as a characteristic and functional component belonging to the country house;
- owing to its ensemble value in connection with the castle complex.
