Introduction

Building 57 stands detached in a wooded estate, roughly to the east of number 37 and to the north of number 62, on the south side of and close against a north-east-oriented, slightly curved road on Groot-Heidekamp. Description

Single-storey, relatively small, with approximately 50 cm thick external brickwork and partly with crawl space executed brick MILITARY BARRACKS on rectangular floor plan and covered by a hipped roof with corrugated red improved hollow (Dutch) tiles, slightly bowed out at the eaves, with on both long-sides window strips of elongated roof dormers. In the north-western gable end / main gable on the left an access opening with two steps, equipped with a wooden lattice door and a fanlight divided into four panes, and to the right of this two window openings with concrete cill, with above four-pane drop sashes and below double wooden inward-opening two-pane casement windows, below the cill provided with sheet-steel shutters painted green and white with hourglass motif. South-eastern gable end with on the left and right a similar window opening and centrally between these a sealed up access opening. Moreover a relatively recent iron spiral staircase to attic level, where in line with the facade a relatively recent chapel-shaped extension under pitched roof with on the left an access opening and on the right a large window. North-eastern and south-western long-sides with respectively three and two window openings comparable to those in the main gable. Box gutters all round. Interior partly modernised. Staircase to attic level and painted wall panelling characteristic of the building period.
