Inleiding
Het boerderijcomplex is gelegen aan het oude polderlint in Zoeterwoude, op een plek waar de oorspronkelijke structuur van de polderlinten met het open achterland nog goed herkenbaar is. Het bevindt zich op een kavel aan de oostzijde van het riviertje dat als uitgangspunt voor de ontginningsslagen diende en dat later als belangrijke verkeersader voor het gebied fungeerde. Ten westen en evenwijdig aan het riviertje kwamen eveneens boerderijen tot stand en werd bovendien een weg aangelegd. Dit is grotendeels bepalend geweest voor de vorm van de erfaanleg van de Oude Brouckhoeve. Voor aansluiting op de weg diende het erf dan ook van een lange oprijlaan en een brug te worden voorzien. Karakteristiek voor gebied is de aanwezigheid van aangelegde eilandjes in het water, die beplant zijn met essen, wilgen, populieren en elzen. Het hout van dit groen werd door de boeren voor hun eigen gerief gebruikt. De bij de Oude Brouckhoeve gelegen eilandjes hoorden naar alle waarschijnlijkheid van oudsher bij een andere boerderij. Door het betrekken van de eilandjes bij het vaste land worden de eilandjes steeds zeldzamer. Verder is de vrij brede sloot aan de zuidkant van het perceel noemenswaardig. Deze van banaanvormige sloot liep in de negentiende eeuw door tot aan de hooiberg aan achterzijde van de boerderij en diende als haventje voor de boer en mogelijk ook als melksloot.
De erfaanleg bestaat uit: a. het erf b. griefhouteilandjes c. de brede, kromme sloot (haven/melksloot) d. boomgaard e. oprijlaan f. linden
Omschrijving
De ERFAANLEG rondom de boerderij heeft zijn agrarische karakter behouden. Bepalend hiervoor is de aanwezigheid van de geriefhouteilandjes in de vliet, het eigen haventje in de vorm van een vrij brede, kromme sloot, de boomgaard achter op het erf en de onverharde oprijlaan aan de overkant van de vliet. Voor de boerderij bevinden zich drie lindebomen. Naast de wagenschuur is een moestuin gelegen die zich naar alle waarschijnlijkheid van oorsprong in de buurt van het boenhok vooraan op het erf bevond.
Waardering
De ERFAANLEG is van waarde vanwege:
- de ligging in het historisch goed bewaard gebleven landschap;

Introduction
The farmyard complex is located on the old polder line in Zoeterwoude, at a place where the original structure of the polder lines with the open hinterland is still clearly recognizable. It is situated on a plot on the east side of the small river that served as the starting point for the reclamation strips and which later functioned as an important traffic route for the area. To the west and parallel to the small river, farms were also established and a road was constructed. This has largely been determining for the form of the yard layout of the Oude Brouckhoeve. For connection to the road, the yard had to be provided with a long access road and a bridge. Characteristic of the area is the presence of constructed islets in the water, which are planted with ash trees, willows, poplars and alders. The timber of this vegetation was used by the farmers for their own purposes. The islets situated at the Oude Brouckhoeve probably belonged from time immemorial to another farm. By incorporating the islets into the mainland, the islets are becoming increasingly rare. Furthermore, the fairly wide ditch on the south side of the plot is noteworthy. This banana-shaped ditch ran in the nineteenth century all the way to the hay barn at the rear of the farm and served as a small harbour for the farmer and possibly also as a milk ditch.
