Omschrijving onderdeel 4A: WESTELIJK BOUWHUIS.
Inleiding
Ter weerszijden van het door lage bakstenen balustrades besloten voorplein staan rood bakstenen bouwhuizen bestaande uit één bouwlaag en een zolderverdieping onder een schilddak gedekt met gesmoorde Oud-Hollandse pannen voorzien van symmetrisch aangebrachte dakkapellen en schoorstenen op de hoeken.
Omschrijving
De noordelijke eindgevel staat in het water van de buitengracht, de zuidelijke eindgevel in het water van de kasteelgracht. Aan de noordzijde sluit de eindgevel aan de 'binnenzijde' aan op een lage muur die het voorplein afsluit en aan de 'buitenzijde' op een tuinmuur die de voormalige nutstuinen begrenst. De zuidelijke eindgevel sluit aan de 'binnenzijde' aan op de door een balustrade afgesloten kademuren van de kasteelgracht. Het bouwhuis dateert in oorsprong uit het begin van de 18de eeuw. In het eerste kwart van de 20ste eeuw is het bouwhuis van binnen ingrijpend verbouwd ten behoeve van het onderbrengen van deelnemers aan de zogenaamde 'Sterkampen'. De oorspronkelijk afwerking is daarbij verloren gegaan.
In de symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel centraal een van boven licht getoogde dubbele inrijdeur bekroond door een dakkapel met decoratieve gemetselde wangen in de vorm van vleugelstukken. In het zuidelijke deel van de gevel een doorgang naar de achtergelegen voormalige nutstuinen ter breedte van een dubbele inrijdeur met dubbel meerruits bovenlicht. In het bouwhuis waren van oorsprong meerdere dienstwoningen ondergebracht, die aan de buitenzijde nog herkenbaar zijn: twee eenvoudige toegangsdeuren met meerruits bovenlicht worden geflankeerd door meerdere schuifvensters met kleine roedeverdeling en halve luiken met zandlopermotief.
In de noordelijke eindgevel een schuifvenster als in de voorgevel en een blinde vensternis. In de achtergevel grote schuifvensters met kleine roedenverdeling en centraal een dubbele glasdeur en bovenlicht met kleine roedenverdeling. In het dakschild een groot aantal tuimelramen.
Waardering
Het WESTELIJKE BOUWHUIS van twee bouwhuizen behorende tot de buitenplaats Eerde is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- vanwege de eenvoudige, harmonieuze en doelmatige vormgeving, die representatief is voor 17de- en 18de-eeuwse bouwhuizen;
- vanwege de kenmerkende ligging in de oorspronkelijke vroeg-18de-eeuwse parkaanleg;

Introduction
On either side of the forecourt enclosed by low brick balustrades stand red brick estate buildings consisting of one storey and an attic storey beneath a hipped roof covered with suppressed Dutch old-style tiles furnished with symmetrically placed roof dormers and chimneys on the corners.
Description
The northern end gable stands in the water of the outer moat, the southern end gable in the water of the castle moat. On the north side the end gable adjoins at the 'inner side' a low wall that closes off the forecourt and at the 'outer side' a garden wall that borders the former utility gardens. The southern end gable adjoins at the 'inner side' the quay walls of the castle moat enclosed by a balustrade. The estate building dates in origin from the beginning of the 18th century. In the first quarter of the 20th century the estate building was substantially renovated inside to accommodate participants in the so-called 'Sterkampen'. The original finish was thereby lost.
In the symmetrically arranged front facade centrally a double carriage entrance with a light arch from above crowned by a roof dormer with decorative brick wing pieces. In the southern part of the facade a passage to the adjoining former utility gardens the width of a double carriage entrance with double multi-pane fanlight. In the estate building several service dwellings were originally housed, which are still recognisable on the outside: two simple entrance doors with multi-pane fanlight are flanked by several sash windows with small glazing bars and half shutters with hourglass motif.
In the northern end gable a sash window as in the front facade and a blind window recess. In the rear facade large sash windows with small glazing bars and centrally a double glazed door and fanlight with small glazing bars. In the roof panel a large number of roof lights.
Valuation
The WESTERN ESTATE BUILDING of two estate buildings belonging to the country seat Eerde is of general importance:
- on account of its age;
- on account of its simple, harmonious and functional design, which is representative of 17th- and 18th-century estate buildings;
- on account of its characteristic location in the original early 18th-century park layout;
- on account of the functional-spatial relationship with the other components of the country seat.
