Inleiding
MOLENROMP. De achtkante binnenkruier is omstreeks 1631 gebouwd als ondermolen van de tweehoog malende oostelijke gang voor de bemaling van de polder Schagerwaard of Witsmeer. De molen is in 1864 omgebouwd van schepradmolen tot vijzelmolen. De molen is in 1923 onttakeld, waarbij het wiekenkruis, de kap, de romp tot de kapzolder en het gaande werk werden verwijderd. De sindsdien resterende molenromp heeft thans een functie als woning en ligt nabij de ringsloot van de Schagerwaard, ten westen van Zijdewind. De tussenboezem naar de voormalige bovenmolen is nog aanwezig. De molenromp heeft in een open polderlandschap een belangrijke landschappelijke functie.
Omschrijving
De molenromp bestaat uit een lage gemetselde bakstenen voet met daarop een houten achtkant. De van twee bintlagen voorziene molenromp is ter hoogte van de kapzolder ingekort, is ter hoogte van de begane grond bekleed met hout, is vanaf de duisplanken gedekt met riet en is voorzien van een plat dak. In de stenen voet zijn aanwezig twee gevelstenen uit 1864, betrekking hebbend op de ombouw tot vijzelmolen.
Waardering
De molenromp is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relict van een houten achtkante poldermolen uit de eerste helft van de zeventiende eeuw;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als essentieel onderdeel van de ontginnings- en waterstaatkundige geschiedenis van Noord-Holland en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;

MILL HULL. The octagonal lower-turning mill was built around 1631 as the under mill of the two-storey milling eastern stage for the drainage of the polder Schagerwaard or Witsmeer. The mill was converted in 1864 from a scoop wheel mill to a screw pump mill. The mill was dismantled in 1923, whereby the sail cross, the cap, the hull up to the cap floor and the running machinery were removed. The mill hull remaining since then currently serves as a dwelling and is situated near the ring dyke of the Schagerwaard, west of Zijdewind.
