Inleiding
Goederenloods, in 1870 in Waterstaatsstijl gebouwd op het emplacement van station Middelburg. De loods is in 2001 in zijn geheel opgelicht en in oostelijke richting verplaatst en bevindt zich tegenwoordig op het emplacement te Goes.
Omschrijving
De goederenloods heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en is één bouwlaag hoog met een zadeldak. Opgetrokken uit baksteen, die later wit is geschilderd (anno 2003 is de loods in een niet-historische tint geel geschilderd) en deels voorzien van een gepleisterde plint.
De westelijke topgevel is voorzien van verdiepte velden en hoeklisenen en een gepleisterde plint; voorts drie licht getoogde houten vensters, de middelste 3x3 ruits met aan weerszijden een 3x2 ruits venster. In de top van deze gevel bevindt zich een rond stalen rozetvenster met een gepleisterde omlijsting.
Aan de zuidelijke langsgevel (spoorzijde) bevindt zich ter hoogte van de plint een perron op gemetselde steunmuurtjes.
Daarboven een reeks van zes goederendeuren, anno 2003 deels beglaasd. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een in het verlengde van het zadeldak doorlopende luifel. Deze luifel wordt gedragen door een korbeelconstructie van geklonken stalen profielliggers op consoles.
De oostelijke topgevel is vrijwel identiek aan de westelijke, maar in het midden voorzien van een dubbele deur in plaats van een venster.
De noordelijke langsgevel is voorzien van vier getoogde dubbele houten goederendeuren, anno 2003 deels beglaasd, in verdiepte gevelvelden en een vernieuwde deurpartij. De rechter travee is voorzien van een getoogd venster met middenstijl en roedeverdeling; onder het venster een gepleisterde borstwering. Ter hoogte van de plint bevinden zich bakstenen muurtjes van nieuw metselwerk. Voorts een luifel zoals aan de zuidelijke langsgevel.
Het zadeldak en de luifels zijn gedekt met bitumineus materiaal en in oorsprong voorzien van geprofileerde lijsten.
Inwendig is de historische metalen constructie bewaard en in het zicht.
Waardering
Goederenloods van typologische en architectuurhistorische waarde en van belang vanwege gaafheid en zeldzaamheid.

Description
The goods shed has a rectangular floor plan and is one storey high with a gabled roof. Constructed from brick, which was later painted white (as of 2003 the shed has been painted yellow in a non-historic shade) and partly provided with a plastered plinth.
The western gabled end is provided with recessed fields and corner lisenes and a plastered plinth; furthermore three slightly arched timber windows, the middle one 3x3 panes with a 3x2 pane window on either side. At the apex of this gable is a round steel rose window with a plastered surround.
On the southern longitudinal gable (track side) at plinth height there is a platform on masoned supporting walls.
Above this a series of six goods doors, as of 2003 partly glazed. The gable is terminated by an awning continuing in line with the gabled roof. This awning is supported by a corbel construction of riveted steel section beams on consoles.
The eastern gabled end is virtually identical to the western one, but in the middle provided with a double door instead of a window.
The northern longitudinal gable is provided with four arched double timber goods doors, as of 2003 partly glazed, in recessed gable fields and a renewed door section. The right bay is provided with an arched window with centre mullion and glazing bars; beneath the window a plastered breast wall. At plinth height there are brick walls of new brickwork. Furthermore an awning as on the southern longitudinal gable.
The gabled roof and awnings are covered with bituminous material and originally provided with moulded profiles.
Internally the historic metal construction is preserved and visible.
