Inleiding
Aan de Amstel gelegen HEKWERK, behorende tot het complex van de Zuidergasfabriek, in de periode 1907 - 1913 ontworpen in de stijl van de art nouveau. Het hekwerk bestaat uit het eigenlijke toegangshek bij de portiersloge en het resterend deel van het hekwerk ter afbakening van het terrein, beginnend bij de portiersloge en circa 50 meter doorlopend naar het noordoosten.
Omschrijving
Langgerekte terreinafscheiding bij de voormalige Zuidergasfabriek tussen de portiersloge en de Amstel, bestaande uit drie gemetselde pijlers, smeedijzeren (draai)hekken en lantaarnhouders. De draaihekken hebben in de bovenste helft gedraaide verticale spijlen die in de gebogen bovenrand doorlopen in driezijdige punten. De draaihekken zijn verstevigd met een diagonaal. De lantaarns worden bekroond door beschilderde keizerskronen. De houders klemmen om de granieten koppen van de pijlers. Het overige hekwerk heeft een horizontale bovenrand. Tussen de portiersloge en de tweede pijler bevindt zich een enkel draaihek, opgehangen aan een ronde stijl met ringen. Dit was voor de voetgangers bestemd. Het hekwerk dat het terrein afbakent is gelijk aan de rechtgesloten hekken tussen de pijlers en heeft dezelfde ronde stijlen als aan het voetgangershek.

Description
