In de buitenruimte ten oosten van de kapel van het voormalig St. Elisabeth Gesticht bevindt zich een tuinfolly in de vorm van een rots, de 'Lourdesgrot'. De kunstrots heeft een breedte van ongeveer zes meter en een hoogte van ongeveer vijf meter, en is uitgevoerd in cementrustiek en vervaardigd van kippengaas, textiel en cement.
NB. De ontwerper en datering is onbekend.

De Lourdesgrot is van cultuurhistorisch- en typologisch belang als zeldzaam voorbeeld van een zogenaamde tuinfolly uitgevoerd in cementrustiek, en zeldzaam geworden getuigenis van het inmiddels verdwenen ambacht van rocailleren of rotseren, dat in Nederland vanaf de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw tot in de jaren dertig van de twintigste eeuw werd toegepast.

Description
In the external space to the east of the chapel of the former St. Elisabeth Institution there is a garden folly in the form of a rock, the 'Lourdes Grotto'. The artificial rock has a width of approximately six metres and a height of approximately five metres, and is executed in cement rustication and made of chicken wire, textile and cement.
Note: The designer and dating are unknown.
Valuation
The Lourdes Grotto is of cultural-historical and typological importance as a rare example of a so-called garden folly executed in cement rustication, and a rare surviving testimony to the now-vanished craft of rocaille work or rock work, which was applied in the Netherlands from the second half of the nineteenth century until the 1930s.
