Inleiding
Drie geschakelde voormalige PAKHUIZEN, genaamd "Deli", "Langkat" en "Serdang", gebouwd in 1903-1904, naar een ontwerp van P.J. Hamer met kenmerken van de Overgangsarchitectuur.
In de op onderdelen gewijzigde pakhuizen zijn tegenwoordig woningen ondergebracht.
Omschrijving
Het in kruisverband opgetrokken opslaggebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond telt vijf bouwlagen en is vlak gedekt en voorzien van vier moderne dakopbouwen. De symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel wordt gekenmerkt door negen vensterassen, drie per pakhuis. De brede centrale hijsluikopeningen, onder de hijsbalk, worden geflankeerd door kleine getoogde vensters. De centrale openingen hebben alle pakhuisdeuren. De bovenste en de onderste hijsluikopeningen zijn getoogd en hebben hardstenen sluit- en aanzetstenen. De overige hijsluikopeningen zijn recht gesloten en onderling verbonden door hardstenen friezen met daarin, boven de eerste verdieping, de Indonesische pakhuisnamen. De toegangsdeuren op de begane grond in de rechter vensteras hebben in de segmentboog hardstenen aanzetstenen.
De gevel wordt boven het trasraam, met een afgeschuinde hardstenen lijst, ter hoogte van de eerste verdiepingvloer geleed door drie groen geglazuurde koppenlagen. Dergelijk koppenlagen bevinden zich ook onder de hijsbalken, hier echter ononderbroken door strekkenlagen. Op de daklijst zijn als markering van de drie pakhuizen, vier hardstenen opzetstukken met ingehakte versieringen, geplaatst. Rechts, in het verlengde van de voorgevel bevindt zich een eenlaags tussenlid, voorzien van een getrapt uitkragend spaarveld en rechts een rondboogvormige toegang. De gevellijst is van hardstenen blokken voorzien met daarop een siersmeedwerk spijlenhek.
De rechter zijgevel is voorzover zichtbaar, blind uitgevoerd.
De constructie van het interieur bestaat uit gewapend betonnen kolommen waarop een betonvloer rust.
Waardering
De drie geschakelde pakhuizen uit het begin van de twintigste eeuw zijn wegens cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarden van algemeen belang als karakteristiek voorbeeld van een traditioneel geconstrueerd opslaggebouw met eigentijdse detaillering; tevens van belang wegens situationele- en ensemblewaarde wegens de nog herkenbare relatie met de naburige pakhuizen en de Houthaven.

Description
The storage building, constructed in Flemish bond on a rectangular floor plan, comprises five storeys and has a flat roof and is fitted with four modern roof extensions. The symmetrically arranged front facade is characterised by nine window axes, three per warehouse. The wide central hoisting door openings, below the hoisting beam, are flanked by small arched windows. The central openings have all warehouse doors. The upper and lower hoisting door openings are arched and have hard stone end and voussoir stones. The remaining hoisting door openings are straight-closed and linked to each other by hard stone friezes with, above the first floor, the Indonesian warehouse names. The access doors on the ground floor in the right window axis have hard stone voussoir stones in the segmental arch.
The facade is articulated above the trash window, with a bevelled hard stone moulding, at the level of the first floor slab by three green glazed header courses. Similar header courses are also found below the hoisting beams, here however uninterrupted by brick courses. On the roofline, as marking of the three warehouses, four hard stone superstructures with inscribed decorations are placed. On the right, in the extension of the front facade, is a single-storey connecting element, furnished with a stepped projecting spandrel and on the right a round-arched entrance. The facade moulding is furnished with hard stone blocks with ornamental wrought-iron railings on top.
The right side facade is, as far as visible, executed blind.
The construction of the interior consists of reinforced concrete columns on which a concrete floor rests.
Appreciation
The three adjoined warehouses from the beginning of the twentieth century are of general importance for reasons of cultural and architectural history as a characteristic example of a traditionally constructed storage building with contemporary detailing; furthermore of importance for reasons of situational and ensemble value because of the still recognisable relationship with the neighbouring warehouses and the Houthaven.
