Omschrijving
Omschrijving onderdeel 1: HUIS 'MEDLER'.
Inleiding
- vanwege de 19e eeuwse verschijningsvorm (in- en exterieur) die met name tot stand is gekomen als gevolg van een verbouwing omstreeks 1800 respectievelijk 1893;
- vanwege de oudere muurdelen daterend uit de 17 en 18e eeuw;
- vanwege de monumentale ligging op het westelijke eiland, aan het einde van de lange oprijlaan;

Description
Description of component 1: HOUSE 'MEDLER'.
Introduction
The Medler is first mentioned in 1483. Presumably, shortly after 1530 a moated house is erected. Around 1612 the house, brewhouse, stables, barn and two outbuildings are demolished and two new outbuildings are built located outside the moats of the former Medler. The current house Medler possibly originated from a modest country house at the end of the 17th century. In 1764-65 the house is thoroughly restored and enlarged with a cellaraged extension. Around 1800 a second, less extensive renovation follows.
Description
HOUSE 'Medler', component of the historic country estate 'Het Medler' dating from around 1800. Block-shaped brick building consisting of two storeys and a basement storey on a rectangular ground plan. Modified and raised in 1892. The surrounding hipped roof with slates and the octagonal turret with a small cupola roof in the middle of the front pitch date from this period. The house still contains an older core consisting of wall sections from the 17th and 18th centuries. The symmetrical front facade consists of 5 bays with the central bay projecting slightly. On the ground floor of the central bay is the framed entrance section with double glazed doors and a fan-shaped stone staircase of 5 steps in hardstone; simple iron railings with lozenge and rosette motifs. The central bay ends in a drip moulding crowned by a triangular pediment with the combined coat of arms of Dorth and van Voorst. The facade contains regularly distributed windows with T-windows and shutters on both storeys. The front facade is terminated left and right with corner pilasters. In the pitch there is on either side of the pediment a roof gable terminated by a triangular pediment. In the interior there are various important components such as the vestibule decorated with simple stucco, where the wall surfaces are filled with emblems of music and outdoor life, doors with some carved work, a rococo fireplace from elsewhere, two bells.
Valuation
The HOUSE 'Medler', component of the historic country estate Het Medler, is of general interest:
- because of the 19th-century appearance (interior and exterior) which was created in particular as a result of renovations around 1800 respectively 1893;
- because of the older wall sections dating from the 17th and 18th centuries;
- because of the monumental location on the western island, at the end of the long approach road;
- because of the functional-spatial relationship of the house with the other components of the country estate.
