Omschrijving complexonderdeel 1
De in het Merwedekanaal gelegen gekoppelde SLUIS heeft twee verbrede sluiskolken van elk twaalf meter breed en een lengte van circa 120 meter. De wanden van de sluis zijn opgetrokken uit basaltblokken en de hoofden zijn van baksteen met hardstenen hoeken en afdekplaten. De sluis is uitgevoerd met houten puntdeuren. Het sluishoofd aan de zijde van de Lek heeft dubbele sluisdeuren en schotbalksponningen. Op de hoofden staat een takel ten behoeve van de schotbalkkering. In de westelijke wand is een gedenksteen met de jaartallen '1882-1886' aangebracht. Over het hoofd ligt een dubbele ophaalbrug (complexonderdeel 2). Het tussenhoofd en het benedenhoofd zijn uitgevoerd met een enkel stel puntdeuren. Over het benedenhoofd ligt een niet oorspronkelijke enkele ophaalbrug. In beide sluiskommen zijn in de wanden in het midden tegenover elkaar trappen aangebracht. Bij de oostelijke trap van de bovenkolk is een gedenksteen met de inscriptie: 'Koninginnensluis 4 augustus 1892' aangebracht. Voorts zijn hardstenen haalkommen aangebracht en dubbele ijzeren bolders. In de sluiswanden zijn diverse peilschalen aangebracht.
Waardering complexonderdeel 1
De sluis is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een gekoppelde sluis, uitgevoerd in overwegend basalt en hardsteen alsmede van ensemblewaarde in relatie tot de overige complexonderdelen en van (historisch) stedenbouwkundig belang voor Vreeswijk.

The coupled LOCK located in the Merwedekanaal has two widened lock chambers of twelve metres wide each and a length of approximately 120 metres. The walls of the lock are built of basalt blocks and the lock gates are of brick with hardstone corners and coping plates. The lock is equipped with wooden pointed doors. The lock gate on the Lek side has double lock gates and sluice-beam grooves. On the lock gates stands a tackle for the sluice-beam gate. A commemorative stone with the dates '1882-1886' has been affixed to the western wall. A double lifting bridge spans the lock gate (complex component 2). The intermediate gate and the lower gate are equipped with a single set of pointed doors. A single non-original lifting bridge spans the lower gate. In both lock chambers, steps have been arranged in the walls opposite each other in the centre. At the eastern steps of the upper chamber, a commemorative stone with the inscription: 'Koninginnensluis 4 augustus 1892' has been affixed. Furthermore, hardstone hauling ponds have been installed and double iron bollards. Various gauge scales have been affixed to the lock walls.
