Omschrijving onderdeel 5: WATERMOLEN.
Evenals het kasteel heeft de watermolen een middeleeuwse oorsprong. Het huidige gebouw is 18de-eeuws en gerestaureerd in 1977.
Op de plaats waar de Kwistbeek het Maasterras verlaat is een watermolen geplaatst die gebruik maakt van het hoogteverschil tussen Kwistbeek en Bosbeek. Het waterpeil van de grachten rond het kasteel en voorterrein kon worden opgestuwd door het stuwwerk van de molen. Tevens dienden de grachten als overloop voor een teveel aan water.
In 1388 is de eerste vermelding van de watermolen. Vanaf 1664 komt hij op (landmeters)kaarten voor als 'muelen op de beeck'. De molen, in bezit van de eigenaar van het kasteel werd in 1857 tot oliemolen omgebouwd. In 1900 kreeg hij de functie van graanmolen weer terug en heeft die tot 1962 behouden. Gebouw op rechthoekige grondslag, opgetrokken in baksteen en voorzien van een geknikt schilddak met leibedekking. Aan de zuidzijde bevindt zich het waterrad met gemetselde aan- en afvoer van het water van de Kwistbeek.

De WATERMOLEN, onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats d'Erp, is van algemeen belang wegens:

Description of component 5: WATER MILL.
Like the castle, the water mill has a medieval origin. The present-day building is 18th-century and was restored in 1977.
At the place where the Kwistbeek leaves the Maas terrace a water mill has been placed that makes use of the height difference between Kwistbeek and Bosbeek. The water level of the moats around the castle and forecourt could be dammed up by the mill's weir structure. The moats also served as overflow for excess water.
In 1388 the first mention of the water mill occurs. From 1664 onwards it appears on (surveyor's) maps as 'muelen op de beeck'. The mill, owned by the owner of the castle, was converted into an oil mill in 1857. In 1900 it regained its function as a grain mill and retained this until 1962. Building on a rectangular groundplan, built of brick and provided with a kinked hipped roof with slate covering. On the south side is the water wheel with masonry water intake and discharge from the Kwistbeek.
