Rechts achter het Laboratorium voor Microbiologie, dicht bij de Gen. Foulkesweg, liggen de PROEFVAKKEN die zijn aangelegd ten behoeve van het landbouwkundig bodemonderzoek. De 40 vakken vormen een gridpatroon van 8 X 5 rijen. Elk vak (ca. 7 X 6,5 m) wordt omgeven door een opstaande, ca 20 cm hoge betonnen rand die aansluit op betonplaten die in de aarde steken. De vakken worden onderling gescheiden door (zand)paden met een breedte van ca. 80 cm. In elk vak, dat geen bodem heeft, bevond zich een verschillende samenstelling van grond waarop de groei van de gewassen werd onderzocht.

To the right behind the Laboratory for Microbiology, close to the Gen. Foulkesweg, lie the EXPERIMENTAL PLOTS which were laid out for the purposes of agricultural soil research.
