Inleiding
Het PROCESSIEPARK is aangelegd in 1923. Het park heeft een grillig rondgaande zandweg rond een gazon met op de buitenrand de opstelling van de kruiswegstaties. Het heeft een boombeplanting van onder andere lindes en paardekastanjes en diverse sierheesters. Midden op het gazon bevindt zich een buitenkapel uit ca. 1960 voorzien van een overdekt openluchtaltaar en twee rijen zitplaatsen. Het park wordt aan de straatkant afgesloten door twee smeedijzeren poorten, die afkomstig zijn van de in 1975 gesloopte lakenfabriek van Pieter van Dooren aan de Hilvarenbeekseweg. De buitenkapel valt buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Het park bevat veertien kruiswegstaties, die in Romeinse cijfers zijn genummerd en voorzien van de bijbehorende tekst. Elf staties worden tussen 1936 en 1940 geplaatst. De laatste drie kort na de oorlog. Twee staties zijn gesigneerd door het Tilburgse kunstatelier "St. Lucas" van P. Verbraak en Zonen. Volgens de onderschriften zijn ze geschonken door: parochies uit Loon op Zand, Kaatsheuvel en Tilburg, verder door de Congregatie van de Redemptoristen, de Zusters van Liefde, de Capucijnenkerk, een Tilburgse familie en een vereerder. De staties zijn uitgevoerd in witgeschilderde cement. De meeste bestaan uit vier of vijf op ware grootte gebeeldhouwde kunststenen figuren, die op een cementen plateau zijn geplaatst. De twaalfde statie is geplaatst op een Calvarieberg met een gemoduleerde trap die leidt naar de voet van het kruis. Het corpus is van gietijzer en het kruis van hout. In de berg bevindt zich een grot met een stenen altaar. Op de berg is een gedenksteen aangebracht ter dankbare herinnering aan de grote bevorderaars van de Vereniging van de Eerbiedwaardige Pater Petrus Donders: E.P.M. van Grinsven, * 10.6.1885 + 10.6.1950 en E.P.H. van Driel, * 13.7.1877 + 14.7.1954. De ijzeren spijlenpoorten metsiersmeedwerk, bij de ingang van het processiepark, hangen aan gietijzeren pilasters bekroond door acanthusbladeren die een bal dragen. The PROCESSIONAL PARK was laid out in 1923. The park has a winding sandy path around a lawn with the arrangement of the Stations of the Cross along the outer edge. In the middle of the lawn is an outdoor chapel from circa 1960 furnished with a covered open-air altar and two rows of seating. The park is closed off on the street side by two wrought-iron gates, which came from the linen factory of Pieter van Dooren on Hilvarenbeekseweg that was demolished in 1975. Description
