Inleiding.
R.K. KAPEL "Petrus Donders" uit 1923 naar ontwerp van architect J. Donders (Tilburg). De vormgeving van de kapel komt overeen met de eenvoudige missiekerkjes, die de Nederlandse missionarissen in diverse missielanden van de wereld hebben gebouwd. De kapel wordt op 28 oktober 1923 ingezegend door Pater H. van Driel, rector van het Redemptoristenklooster te 's Hertogenbosch. Door de Zaligverklaring in 1982 werd de persoon van Peerke Donders "tot de Eer der Altaren verheven". In dat jaar wordt de kapel gerestaureerd naar ontwerp van architect F. Drijvers (Oisterwijk) en voorzien van een altaar met zijn beeltenis.
Omschrijving.
De eenbeukige houten kapel op rechthoekig grondvlak heeft een zadeldak met groot dakoverstek. De kapel is vijf traveeën diep, ze heeft een smaller gebouwde driezijdige absis en ingangspartij onder een lager aangezet schilddak beide eveneens onder een groot dakoverstek. Op het dak een rode Tuile du Nord-pan. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit een gemetseld rood/paars bakstenen basement. Hierop een houten opbouw van staanders met een rabatdelen bekleding. Voor de kapel een gemetseld bordes met drie traptreden. De geveltoppen zijn met een houten kruis bekroond. Inwendig heeft de kapel vier houten spanten met ijzeren trekstangen. De spanten staan op houten muurstijlen. De sacristie van de kapel is gedeeltelijk uitgebouwd.
Waardering.
De kapel is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van de katholieke devotie in het zuiden van Nederland en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de bedevaartplaatsen na 1900. Het is van architectuurhistorisch belang door de aan een missiekapel in de tropen herinnerende vormentaal. Het heeft ensemblewaarden wegens de bijzondere samenhang van beeldengroepen en een herbouwd monument, het is tevens van belang wegens de detaillering. The single-aisled wooden chapel on a rectangular ground plan has a gabled roof with large roof overhang.
