Inleiding.
KAPEL in de tuin van klooster Mariadal, gebouwd voor de orde van de Franciscanessen Penitenten Recollectinnen naar ontwerp van J.Th.J. Cuypers en F.B. Sturm in 1934 in traditionalistische stijl.
Omschrijving.
De zandstenen kapel is driezijdig gesloten en heeft een omlopend dak gedekt met daktegels. Tegen de gevels een plint en pilasters, uitgevoerd in rustica. De rondboogramen zijn gevuld met glas-in-lood. Het voorportaal is open met rondboog openingen en wordt overdekt door een kruisgewelf. Onder de goot loopt een geprofileerde rand.
Waardering.
De kapel is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk het toegenomen zelfbewustzijn van de katholieke congregaties in het Interbellum. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarden wegens materiaalgebruik en ornamentiek en neemt een bijzondere plaats in in het oeuvre van de architecten Cuypers en Sturm. Het geheel is gaaf bewaard gebleven.

Description.
The sandstone chapel is three-sided and has a surrounding roof covered with roof tiles. Against the facades a plinth and pilasters, executed in rustication. The round-arched windows are filled with stained glass. The front porch is open with round-arched openings and is covered by a cross vault. Below the gutter runs a moulded edge.
Valuation.
The chapel is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical importance as a special expression of a spiritual development, namely the increased self-consciousness of Catholic congregations in the Interwar period. It has architectural historical values because of material use and ornamentation and occupies a special place in the oeuvre of architects Cuypers and Sturm. The whole has remained intact.
