Inleiding.
De INUNDATIESLUIS is in 1885 tot stand gekomen ten noordoosten van het fort Sabina-Henrica. Het object vertoont Ambachtelijk-Traditionele baksteenvormen. De sluis is een der inundatiesluizen van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie.
Omschrijving.
Sluis opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen in kruisverband en afgedekt met rollagen en dekplaten in hardsteen. De sluis is opgenomen in het dijklichaam en bestaat uit twee rechtgesloten openingen en doorgangen die via houten schotbalkdeuren in hardstenen sponningen worden afgesloten. De schotbalkdeuren konden bediend worden door middel van een gietijzeren windwerk met tandwielen. Voor de deuren bevinden zich hardstenen schotbalksponningen.
Waardering.
De inundatiesluis bij fort Sabina-Henrica is van algemeen belang. Het object cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van de ontwikkelingen van de landsverdediging en de krijgskunst in de negentiende eeuw en de plaats die het fort innam als schakel in de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarden wegens de eenvoud van de traditionele baksteenbouw. Het heeft ensemblewaarden wegens de relatie tussen fort, magazijn en het omliggende open poldergebied. Het is relatief gaaf bewaard gebleven.

The INUNDATION SLUICE was constructed in 1885 to the northeast of the fort Sabina-Henrica. The object displays craftsman-traditional brick forms. The sluice is one of the inundation sluices of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie.

Sluice constructed from machine-made brick in cross bond and covered with roller courses and hard stone coping slabs. The sluice is incorporated in the dike body and consists of two closed openings and passages which are closed via wooden stop-plank doors in hard stone rebates. The stop-plank doors could be operated by means of a cast-iron windlass with gears. In front of the doors are hard stone stop-plank rebates.
Valuation.
The inundation sluice at fort Sabina-Henrica is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical value as an expression of the developments in national defence and the art of war in the nineteenth century and the place that the fort held as a link in the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. It has architectural-historical value because of the simplicity of traditional brick construction. It has ensemble value because of the relationship between fort, magazine and the surrounding open polder area. It has been preserved in relative integrity.
