Inleiding.
De VAARTUIGENLOODS is tussen 1879 en 1883 tot stand gekomen ten noorden van het fort Sabina-Henrica. Het gebouw vertoont een mengeling van Ambachtelijk-Traditionele vormen.
Omschrijving.
Loods opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen en afgedekt met zadeldaken. De loods ligt zeer markant ten noorden van het fort en bestaat uit drie parallel liggende en aan elkaar gebouwde hallen met een lengte van 10 traveeën. De voorgevel heeft brede korfboogvormig gesloten poorten met natuurstenen sluitsteen. De poorten bevinden zich in spaarvelden met brede lisenen, afgesloten met klimmende rondboogfriezen. De friezen volgen de lijn van het flauw hellende zadeldak met overstek en een bedekking van dakleer. De lange zijgevels zijn voorzien van hooggeplaatste ramen onder licht getoogde strekken. De achtergevel heeft dezelfde ramen, geplaatst in spaarvelden, welke met klimmende friezen worden afgesloten. De rechter zijgevel en de achtergevel zijn gepleisterd. Inwendig worden de drie beuken van elkaar gescheiden door twee arcaden met rondbogen. De bekapping bestaat uit polonceauspanten met houten beschot.

Shed constructed of engineered brick and covered with gabled roofs. The shed lies very prominently north of the fort and consists of three parallel and adjoining halls with a length of 10 bays. The front facade has broad basket-arch-shaped closed doors with natural stone keystones. The doors are situated in spandrel fields with broad pilasters, closed with ascending circular-arch friezes. The friezes follow the line of the gently sloping gabled roof with eaves overhang and a covering of roof felt. The long side facades are provided with high-set windows under lightly arched spans. The rear facade has the same windows, placed in spandrel fields, which are closed with ascending friezes. The right side facade and rear facade are plastered. Internally, the three aisles are separated from one another by two arcades with circular arches. The roof covering consists of polonceau trusses with wooden boarding.
Valuation.
The artillery shed at Fort Sabina-Henrica is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as an expression of the developments of national defence and military science in the nineteenth century and the place the fort occupied as a link in the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. It has architectural-historical value because of the austere style and the simplicity of traditional brickwork. It has ensemble value because of the relationship between fort, magazine and the surrounding open polder landscape. It has been preserved in relatively good condition.
