Inleiding
De MariaKAPEL behorend bij het fraterklooster "Huize Steenwijk" is gelegen ten noordoosten van de achter het klooster aangelegde begraafplaats. De kapel, die naar alle waarschijnlijkheid dateert uit de bouwtijd van het klooster, is opgetrokken in een Neo-Barokke stijl.
Omschrijving
De natuurstenen kapel heeft een octogonale plattegrond. De kapel heeft een driedelige opbouw en wordt bekroond door een klokdak met dakruiter. De kapel heeft een basis met een iets bredere, donkergepleisterde plint. Hierboven hebben de acht zijden ondiepe casementen, waarboven een uitkragende lijst, eveneens donkergrijs gepleisterd. Het middengedeelte van de kapel heeft afwisselend ondiepe nissen, afgesloten door een rondboog en diepere beeldnissen, waarin beelden van Maria, Jozef, Anthonius en Franciscus. Hierboven een uitkragende, donkergrijze lijst, waarboven opnieuw een lijst met casementen.
