Inleiding
Het PARK bij het kloostercomplex "Huize Steenwijk" bevindt zich aan de oostelijke zijde van het landgoed en grenst direct aan de Boxtelseweg. Het park, dat vermoedelijk dateert uit de negentiende eeuw, toont een aanleg in Landschapsstijl.
Omschrijving
Het park beslaat een globaal rechthoekig terrein ten oosten van het fraterklooster (complexonderdeel 2). Aan de noordelijke zijde wordt het park begrensd door de Kettingweg, aan de oostelijke zijde door de Boxtelseweg, waar het door een gracht van deze wegen wordt gescheiden. Langs de zuidelijke zijde van het park loopt de door oude beuken omgeven oprijlaan. Deze draait in een kwart cirkel om een open ruimte in het midden van het park en eindigt voor het klooster, dat tevens de westelijke begrenzing van de open ruimte vormt. Een poort bestaande uit een sierhek tussen bakstenen pijlers geeft vanaf de Boxtelseweg toegang tot deze oprijlaan. The park covers a roughly rectangular area to the east of the friary (complex component 2). On the northern side the park is bounded by the Kettingweg, on the eastern side by the Boxtelseweg, from which it is separated by a ditch. Along the southern side of the park runs the drive lined with old beeches. This turns in a quarter circle around an open space in the middle of the park and ends in front of the monastery, which also forms the western boundary of the open space.
