Inleiding.
POORTGEBOUW, gebouwd in 1934 in Traditionalistische stijl. Het gebouw ligt aan het einde van de Abdijlaan en markeert de toegang tot het kloostercomplex. In het verlengde van de poort staat het hoofdgebouw van het klooster.
Omschrijving.
Bakstenen gebouw met een gepleisterde plint. Het is een tweelaags blokvormige bouwmassa onder een zadeldak met aan beide zijden een nlaags aanbouw onder lessenaarsdak. De daken zijn gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. In het midden is een brede doorgang gemaakt met aan beide zijden in de gevel een rondboog, af te sluiten met rechthoekige houten poorten. Aan de voorzijde heeft de doorgang een natuurstenen omlijsting. Daarboven is in metalen letters de naam van het klooster "MARIENKROON" weergegeven. In een nis in de topgevel is een beeld geplaatst. De topgevel is afgewerkt met een boogfries. Aan weerszijden van de doorgang is een klein rond raampje aangebracht. De achtergevel van het poortgebouw, aan de kloosterkant, is soberder uitgevoerd. In de topgevel bevinden zich drie vierruitsramen. In de éénlaagse gedeeltes zijn rechthoekige poorten aangebracht.
Waardering.
Het gebouw is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van een typologische ontwikkeling. Het heeft ensemblewaarde als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel dat cultuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is.

Brick building with rendered plinth. It is a two-storey block-shaped building mass under a gabled roof with on both sides a single-storey extension under a half-hipped roof. The roofs are covered with improved Dutch tiles. In the middle a wide passage is made with on both sides in the facade a round arch, closable with rectangular wooden doors. On the front side the passage has a natural stone surround. Above it the name of the cloister "MARIENKROON" is displayed in metal letters. In a niche in the end gable an image is placed. The end gable is finished with an arch frieze. On either side of the passage a small round window is provided. The rear gable of the gatehouse, on the cloister side, is executed more soberly. In the end gable three four-pane windows are located. In the single-storey sections rectangular doors are provided.
Valuation.
The building is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as an expression of a typological development. It has ensemble value as an essential component of a larger whole that is of national cultural-historical importance.
