Inleiding
H. Hartbeeld, geplaatst nabij de kerk, behorende bij het complex van het voormalige CARMELIETENKLOOSTER H. Theresia van Liseux, in een mengeling van rationalistische en neogotische stijlvormen, in 1925-1927 gerealiseerd als eerste aanzet van een nooit voltooid groter geheel, naar ontwerp van Phil. Donders. Het complex bestaat verder uit het kloostergebouw annex noviciaat (I), de aanvankelijk rectorale openbare kloosterkerk met klokkentoren (II) en de Lourdesgrot (IV).
Omschrijving
Neogotisch in natuursteen uitgevoerd H. Hartbeeld, wit geschilderd op bakstenen sokkel met ingezwenkte hoeken en spitsboognissen met Christusmonogram. De Christusfiguur staat met uitgespreide armen en draagt het brandende hart op de borst. Opengewerkt aureool met vierpas. Op de achterzijde onleesbaar opschrift van de Tilburgse leverancier.
Waardering
Het beeld is van algemeen belang. Introduction
Sacred Heart statue, placed near the church, belonging to the complex of the former CARMELITE MONASTERY St. Theresia van Liseux, in a mixture of rationalist and neo-gothic stylistic forms, realized in 1925-1927 as the first phase of a larger whole never completed, designed by Phil. Donders. The complex further consists of the monastery building adjoining the novitiate (I), the originally rectoral public monastery church with bell tower (II) and the Lourdes grotto (IV).
Description
Neo-gothic Sacred Heart statue executed in natural stone, painted white on brick base with inset corners and pointed-arch niches with Christ monogram. The Christ figure stands with outstretched arms and bears the burning heart on the chest. Open-worked halo with quatrefoil. On the back illegible inscription of the Tilburg supplier.
Valuation
