Inleiding.
PASTORIE, gebouwd in 1907 naar ontwerp van J. van Groenendael in een traditionele bouwstijl met invloeden van Neorenaissance Het object is in gebruik als kantoor.
Omschrijving.
Samengestelde bakstenen bouwmassa. Het middenrisaliet is twee lagen hoog onder een zadeldak, de nok staat haaks op de straat. Het rechtergedeelte telt één laag en heeft een mansardedak. De links gelegen bouwmassa is opnieuw eenlaags en heeft een klein zadeldak waarvan de nok evenwijdig aan de straat loopt. Het daarachter gelegen gedeelte heeft een zadeldak, haaks daarop. De daken zijn gedekt met geglazuurde tuiles-du-Nord. De topgevels zijn voorzien van windveren. Het pand heeft een uitstekende bakstenen plint en een band in gele strengperssteen ter hoogte van de wisseldorpels van de ramen. Het middenrisaliet heeft op de begane grond afgeschuinde hoeken. Hierin zijn smalle ramen aangebracht. Daarboven kraagt de gevel iets uit. In het midden, zowel op de begane grond als op de verdieping, is een breed raam met middenstijl geplaatst. De topgevel is betimmerd en heeft een klein vierkant raampje in deze betimmering. Direct daaronder is in het metselwerk een zigzagpatroon gemaakt in gele steen. Rechts van het vooruitspringende deel een portiek onder segmentboog, de openslaande paneeldeur heeft smeedijzeren roosters met kleine glas-in-loodraampjes. Daarnaast twee ramen. De rechterzijgevel heeft enkele rechthoekige ramen, de bovenlichten daarvan zijn voorzien van een kleine roedenverdeling. Links van het vooruitspringende deel een bouwmassa met kleine topgevel in de zijgevel. De ramen hebben dezelfde vormgeving als in het rechterdeel. De linkerzijgevel heeft een hooggeplaatst liggend raam, in de topgevel een rechthoekig raam als de overige ramen. Achteraan in de gevel eveneens twee ramen.
In de achtergevel een openslaande deur. T-raam met een bovenlicht met kleine roedenverdeling. Aan de achterzijde is een eenlaagse bouwmassa onder plat dak gezet. Deze serre is voorzien van vernieuwde ramen. In het interieur is de oorspronkelijke indeling bewaard gebleven. In de centrale gang liggen cementtegels. Links van de gang een kamer met schoorsteenmantel en sobere stucplafonds. Rechts is een kamer-en-suite. In de deuren is gestraald glas aangebracht, beide kamers hebben een schoorsteenmantel. De keuken is gedeeltelijk onderkelderd.
Waardering.
De pastorie is van cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van nieuwe kerkdorpen in het kader van de ontginning van oostelijk Noord-Brabant. Het gebouw heeft architectuurhistorische waarde wegens materiaalgebruik en ornamentiek en vanwege de plaats in het oeuvre van de architect Van Groenendael. Het heeft ensemblewaarde wegens de situering die van belang is voor het aanzien van het dorp Mariaheide en als essentieel onderdeel van het geheel. Composite brick building mass. The central risalit is two storeys high under a gabled roof, the ridge stands perpendicular to the street. The right section has one storey and has a mansard roof. The building mass located on the left is again single-storey and has a small gabled roof with the ridge parallel to the street. The section behind it has a gabled roof, perpendicular to it. The roofs are covered with glazed Tuiles-du-Nord. The gables are fitted with weather vanes. The building has a projecting brick plinth and a band in yellow extruded brick at the height of the sill course of the windows. The central risalit has chamfered corners on the ground floor. Narrow windows are installed in them. Above this the facade projects slightly. In the middle, both on the ground floor and on the upper storey, a broad window with central mullion is placed. The gable is timber-framed and has a small square window in this timber framing. Directly below this a zigzag pattern has been made in the masonry in yellow stone. To the right of the projecting section a portico under a segmental arch, the opening panelled door has wrought-iron grilles with small leaded-glass windows. Next to it two windows. The right side facade has some rectangular windows, the fanlights of which are fitted with a small glazing bars pattern. To the left of the projecting section a building mass with small gable in the side facade. The windows have the same design as in the right section. The left side facade has a window placed high, set sideways, in the gable a rectangular window like the other windows. At the rear of the facade likewise two windows.
In the rear facade an opening door. T-window with a fanlight with small glazing bars pattern. At the rear a single-storey building mass under a flat roof has been placed. This conservatory is fitted with renewed windows. In the interior the original layout has been preserved. In the central corridor cement tiles are laid. To the left of the corridor a room with a fireplace mantel and modest stucco ceilings. To the right is a connecting room. The doors are fitted with satin glass, both rooms have a fireplace mantel. The kitchen is partially below ground level.
Valuation.
The rectory is of cultural-historical importance as an expression of a social and spiritual development, namely the establishment of new church villages in the context of the reclamation of eastern North Brabant. The building has architectural-historical value because of its use of materials and ornamentation and because of its place in the oeuvre of architect Van Groenendael. It has ensemble value because of its location which is important for the appearance of the village of Mariaheide and as an essential part of the whole. The building is important because of the integrity of interior and exterior.
