Inleiding.
De LOURDESGROT werd gebouwd in 1925 en verving daarmee een in 1885 op een andere plaats gebouwde Lourdesgrot.
Omschrijving.
De grot bestaat uit een grote betonnen opbouw met klimmende rotspartijen. In de open ruimte in het middendeel, met marmeren vloer, bevindt zich een marmeren altaartafel met zuiltjes en bronzen plaquettes. Hierop zijn Bernadette, een engel en Maria in mandorla afgebeeld. In de achterwand van de altaartafel zijn marmeren votiefsteentjes geplaatst. Naast de altaartafel bevindt zich een smeedijzeren kaarsenstandaard. Rechts in een nis is een polychroom Mariabeeld geplaatst met de tekst: Que soy era immaculada counceptiou. De grot en het rechter zijgedeelte zijn afgesloten door een smeedijzeren hekwerk. Het hekwerk sluit aan op de buitenpreekstoel van kunststeen, gebosseerd en van een ingewerkt kruis voorzien.
Waardering.
De Lourdesgrot is van algemeen belang. Zij heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een geestelijke ontwikkeling, met name de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme en de stichting van nieuwe bedevaartplaatsen in het Interbellum.
