Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
The neo-renaissance RECTORY was built in 1895-1896 on the orders of pastor Kamp by contractor Joannes van Dongen. The bell that originally stood on the roof was removed: during this renovation the roof tiles were also replaced by slates and the chimneys by wrought-iron terminals. Internally the building underwent partial renovations around 1925-1930. Around 1945 a garage was added to the right facade.
Description
The two-storey building, partly with basement, has an almost rectangular floor plan. The facades are constructed of machine-made brick and on the hipped roof lie slates in Maas bond with wrought-iron hip tiles at the corners. The front facade has five bays. This facade is articulated horizontally by the hard stone plinth and plastered speckled courses. On the ground floor are six-pane sash windows, on the first floor six-pane windows. The window sills are of hard stone. Above the windows are segmental arches with diamond keys as springer and keystone.
The simplified front door in the centre is placed in a porch. The fanlight contains a figurative stained-glass representation with the text in a scroll: "Lord remain with us for it grows late". In the porch is a hard stone facade stone with the text: "Foundation stone laid by the Rev. A.H.F. Kamp 1st pastor 20 July 1895". Under the moulded wooden gutter cornice is a dentil course and an ornamented round-arch frieze. In each of the four roof planes is a small two-light roof window. The right side facade has two arched barred basement windows and at the far right a four-pane casement window and on the first floor a six-pane sash window, both under segmental arch. The left side facade, with a view of the former emergency rectory, is completely blank. The back facade has on the left a single-storey outbuilding under gabled roof with slates in Maas bond. This is lit by a large renovated nine-pane window, a four-pane window and arched fanlight belonging to a panel door. The rectory itself has the same window arrangement as shown on the front facade. Behind the front door a tiled corridor runs through the building. These are cream-coloured octagonal tiles with black tiles in geometric pattern. On the left is the open front and back room. All panel doors have the original three-part division. As in the corridor, the ceiling is provided with simple linear stucco patterns. In the back room stands a neo-renaissance marble fireplace with black and green veined marble. In front of it stands a richly ornamented iron fender. On the right are a front room with a small back room, originally intended as a dining room. Behind this is a cloakroom and rises the broad spiralling staircase. This has wooden banisters decorated with leaf motifs and further cast-iron balusters. The corridor is closed off at the back by a panel door with art deco stained glass. Behind this is a space with washbasin and toilet with art deco tiles. To the right behind the stairs is the door to the kitchen. This room has again octagonal tiles from the construction period and further art deco tiling as wainscoting. The large moulded corner fireplace is from the construction period, the kitchen cabinets date from approximately 1930. The kitchen also contains a door leading to the basement. Via a brick staircase the low basement is reached. Over the grey floor tiles cement has mostly been poured. The ceiling consists of barrel vaults on steel beams. Another door in the kitchen gives access to the scullery. In the corner is the toilet for the housekeeper and there is a staircase leading to the loft of this section. The first floor has virtually the same room layout as on the ground floor, except for the bathroom from approximately 1940. This is located between the rooms, above the front door. A well-preserved detail is the cupboard built into the corner of the stairs. The staircase to the loft is also provided with cast-iron decorative balusters. The loft has a sheathed pine wood roof truss, of which the robust anchorage is striking. There hangs a pulley over which ran the rope with which the rectory bell was operated.
