Inleiding
De neogotische CALVARIEBERG met KRUIS en CORPUS werd aan het einde van de negentiende eeuw geplaatst. Het object bevindt zich in de as van het middenpad als afsluiting van het kerkhof. Dit aan het eind van de negentiende eeuw gerealiseerde beeld is uitgevoerd in het hiervoor zelden toegepaste zink.
Omschrijving
Op een steile aarden heuvel staat het kruis met Corpus. Beide zijn uitgevoerd in zink. De armen van het kruis hebben een driepas als uiteinde. De Christusfiguur, iets meer dan levensgroot, is naturalistisch uitgevoerd en gekleed in lendendoek en met de doornenkroon op het terzijde genegen hoofd.
Waardering
Het kruisbeeld is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuur-historisch belang als voorbeeld van een geestelijke ontwikkeling. The neo-gothic CALVARY with CROSS and CORPUS was placed at the end of the nineteenth century. The object is situated on the axis of the central path as a conclusion of the churchyard. This image, realised at the end of the nineteenth century, is executed in zinc, a material rarely used for this purpose.
Description
On a steep earthen mound stands the cross with Corpus. Both are executed in zinc. The arms of the cross have a trefoil as terminus. The Christ figure, slightly more than life-size, is executed naturalistically and dressed in a loincloth with the crown of thorns on the head tilted to one side.
Valuation
The crucifix is of general importance. It has cultural-historical significance as an example of a spiritual development. Architecturally it is significant because of the style and preservation and because of the unusual use of materials, namely zinc. It has ensemble value as part of the complex of church, rectory and churchyard. It is extremely rare.
