Inleiding
In 1930 vervaardigde Wim Harzing voor de Sint Petrus Banden-parochie een HEILIG HART-GROEP. Deze zandstenen groep is geplaatst tussen pastorie en de al beschermde neoromaanse Petruskerk.
Omschrijving
Op een langgerekte betonnen plaat zijn twee beelden geplaatst. Links een compacte groep van de knielende Petrus met sleutel die een gezin van vader, moeder en kind beschermt. De knielende groep is gericht op het door de plooival sterk verticaal gerichte Heilig Hartbeeld, dat geplaatst is op een granieten sokkel en in een zegenend gebaar de hand opheft. Beide beelden zijn opzij gesigneerd W+M Harzing 1930. Het oppervlak van de beelden is licht verweerd, de hand van de Christus is opnieuw aangezet, evenals een vinger. Petrus mist een deel van zijn hand.
Waardering
De beeldengroep is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van H. In 1930 Wim Harzing created a SACRED HEART GROUP in sandstone for the Sint Petrus Banden parish. This group is placed between the presbytery and the already protected Neoromanian Petruskerk.
Description
On an elongated concrete slab two sculptures are placed. On the left a compact group of the kneeling Petrus with key who protects a family of father, mother and child. The kneeling group is directed towards the Sacred Heart sculpture, strongly vertical in its fold design, which is placed on a granite plinth and raises its hand in a blessing gesture. Both sculptures are signed on the side W+M Harzing 1930. The surface of the sculptures is slightly weathered; the hand of the Christ has been recut, as has a finger. Petrus is missing a part of his hand.
Valuation
The sculpture group is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Sacred Heart devotion in the Interbellum. It is also important for the typological development of the Sacred Heart monument. It has art-historical importance as an example of the innovative work of sculptor W. Harzing. It has ensemble values in relation to the church and surroundings. It has been well preserved and is typologically rare.
