Inleiding
Onderdeel van het voormalige COLLEGE van de Kruisheren, thans woonhuis en in 1885 gebouwd door de Paters Kruisheren in eenvoudige baksteenstijl met neo-gotische elementen. Het gebouw ligt tegenover het Kruisherenklooster.
Omschrijving
Het een bouwlaag tellende rechthoekige gebouw is opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen, met speklagen in gele steen en geteerde stenen in de omlijstingen van de raamkoppen en de siervelden boven deze ramen. Het pand heeft een later vernieuwde lijstgoot en een schilddak, met kunstleien gedekt en is voorzien van een eenvoudige dakruiter met overhoekse spits. De voorgevel telt vijf traveeën met een middenrisaliet met terugliggende ingang waarboven een topgevel met rondvenster en een bekronend ijzeren kruis. De entree heeft dubbele paneeldeuren met briefpanelen en een bovenlicht met ruitvormige roedeverdeling. Links en rechts bevinden zich telkens twee hooggeplaatste roederamen met in 1993 in de oude vorm vernieuwde indeling met twaalfruits ramen, thans voorzien van dubbele beglazing. Op de hoeken lisenen en onder de goot een sierfries met deels geteerde en gele baksteen. De linker en rechter zijgevel vertonen twee segmentbogige blindnissen met boven in siermetselwerk. De achtergevel heeft evenals de voorgevel vijf traveeën, waarvan de ramen naar beneden toe zijn uitgebroken en alleen in de bovenlichten nog zijn voorzien van de vroegere ruitvormige indeling. De gevelsteen bevat de tekst: "IN MEMORIAM MUNIFICENTIAE ADM. R.D.J. PULSERS SUB. MAG. GEN. W.F.A. SMITS AN. D. MDCCCLXXXV".
Inwendig is het gebouw gewijzigd bij de verbouwing tot woonhuis, waarbij de middengang met twee rechthoekige lokalen links en rechts nog herkenbaar is gebleven.
Waardering
De voormalige school is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een culturele en geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de ontwikkeling van het internaatsonderwijs door religieuzen in de negentiende eeuw. Het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het schoolgebouw. Architectuurhistorisch is het belangrijk vanwege de stijl en de detaillering. Het heeft ensemblewaarden vanwege de samenhang met de aan de overkant gelegen gebouwen van het Kruisherenklooster. Het is uitwendig gaaf bewaard gebleven.

Description
The single-storey rectangular building is constructed of machine-made brick, with courses in yellow stone and tarred stones in the surrounds of the window heads and the ornamental fields above these windows. The property has a later renewed cornice gutter and a hipped roof, covered with artificial slates and is provided with a simple roof turret with a pointed spire at an angle. The front facade has five bays with a central risalit with recessed entrance above which a gabled roof with a round window and a crowning iron cross. The entrance has double panel doors with letter panels and a fanlight with diamond-shaped glazing bars. To the left and right there are each two high-placed bar windows with glazing renewed in 1993 in the original form with twelve-light windows, now provided with double glazing. On the corners pilasters and below the gutter an ornamental frieze with partly tarred and yellow brick. The left and right side facades feature two segmentally arched blind recesses with ornamental masonry above. The rear facade has like the front facade five bays, of which the windows have been broken down towards the bottom and are still provided only in the fanlights with the original diamond-shaped layout. The facade stone contains the text: "IN MEMORIAM MUNIFICENTIAE ADM. R.D.J. PULSERS SUB. MAG. GEN. W.F.A. SMITS AN. D. MDCCCLXXXV".
Internally the building has been modified during the conversion to a residence, whereby the central corridor with two rectangular rooms to the left and right remains recognisable.
Valuation
The former school is of general importance. The property has cultural-historical importance as an example of a cultural and spiritual development, namely the development of boarding-school education by religious orders in the nineteenth century. It is also important as an example of the typological development of the school building. Architecturally it is important because of the style and the detailing. It has ensemble values because of the connection with the buildings of the Crucifer Monastery situated opposite. It has been externally well preserved.
