Inleiding
19de-eeuwse GRENSPAAL staat nabij het toegangshek van de buitenplaats Raaphorst. Vergelijkbare paaltjes komen ook voor bij de Raadhuislaan, Lange Kerkdam, Voorlinden en Nachtegaallaan/hoek Schouwweg en hebben initialen als "KVW, BV, B-H, P en R (Raaphorst, Paauw). Ze zijn aangebracht ter markering van de grenzen van de verschillende buitenplaatsen, als Backershagen en Raaphorst, en dateren waarschijnlijk uit de 19de eeuw, de periode dat A.P. Twent en Z.K.H. prins Frederik der Nederlanden eigenaar waren van verschillende van deze buitenplaatsen.

Introduction
19th-century BOUNDARY MARKER stands near the access gate of the country estate Raaphorst. Similar posts also occur at the Raadhuislaan, Lange Kerkdam, Voorlinden and Nachtegaallaan/corner Schouwweg and have initials such as "KVW, BV, B-H, P and R (Raaphorst, Paauw). They were erected to mark the boundaries of the various country estates, such as Backershagen and Raaphorst, and probably date from the 19th century, the period when A.P. Twent and H.M. Prince Frederik of the Netherlands were owners of various of these country estates.
Description
An octagonal boundary post approximately 50 cm high, with hemispherical crown and in bas-relief the inscription "DH" on one side and "TP" on the other side.
Valuation
Fairly well-preserved Boundary Marker is of general interest on account of its cultural and architectural-historical value through its typological and functional, spatial relationship with the other country estates in Wassenaar and as such forms part of a larger ensemble of boundary posts, which serve to mark the boundaries of the country estates, including Raaphorst.
