Inleiding
BOERDERIJ met Vlaamse schuur met middenlangsdeel en woonhuis met ingezwenkte lijstgevel, hoofdonderdeel van het boerderijcomplex Kerkweg 3 aan de rand van het dorp Zuidland. Het woonhuis is rond 1880 in Eclectische stijl vernieuwd. De schuur is gebouwd in een Ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant. Het betreft één van de grootste boerderijen voor gemengd bedrijf in de regio met een langwerpige, driebeukige schuur. In het middendeel werd gedorst en in de tas werd het hooi opgeslagen. In de linker zijbeuk werd het rundvee gestald.
Het complexonderdeel is nauwelijks gewijzigd.
Omschrijving
De boerderij is samengesteld uit een Vlaamse schuur en een woonhuis dat voor het rechter deel van de voorgevel van de schuur is geplaatst. Beide volumes staan op een rechthoekige plattegrond en bestaan uit één bouwlaag onder een afgewolfd zadeldak. De schuur was oorspronkelijk gedekt met riet. Het woonhuis is gedekt met gesmoorde tuiles du Nord. Op de nokken van het woonhuis zijn opgemetselde schoorstenen aangebracht, met platte afdekking en windvaan. Midden boven de voorgevel is een rondboogvormige dakkapel geplaatst. De geprofileerde rondboog omlijst een bovenlicht, dat boven een rechtgesloten, dubbel openslaand venster is aangebracht. Het woonhuis is voorzien van houten geprofileerde gootlijsten op klossen. De gevels van schuur en woonhuis zijn opgetrokken in rode baksteen in kruisverband. De gevels hebben een lage gepleisterde plint. De ingezwenkte voorgevel is bekroond door een geprofileerde kroonlijst op acht consoles. Er zijn tevens consoles aangebracht op de smalle uiteinden van de kroonlijst. De bovenzijde van de kwartcirkelvormige ingezwenkte geveldelen zijn afgedekt met een hardstenen deklijst.
In de gevels van het woonhuis zijn onder de segmentbogen deels éénruits-vensters en deels originele T-vensters met schuiframen aangebracht. Het houtwerk dat de ramen omlijst is in de hoeken afgerond. De entree met segmentboogvormig bovenlicht in de voorgevel is omlijst door deels in hout gesneden, deels gepleisterde pilasters, met rozetten en panelen en een kroonlijst op consoles. Daarboven is het venster tevens omlijst met pilasters en een kroonlijst. De velden boven de entree en onder het venster zijn gedecoreerd met rozetten en consoles. Boven en naast de bovenlichten van de vensters zijn gepleisterde, geprofileerde lijsten op consoles en met kuif in het midden aangebracht. De gevels van de schuur zijn voorzien van grote dubbele, openslaande inrijdeuren in een kozijn met korbelen, tweedelige staldeuren onder een segmentboog en halfronde ijzeren vensters, waarvan het grotere formaat in de topgevels is aangebracht en het kleinere formaat in de lage zijgevels van de stallen.
De symmetrische voorgevel (noordzijde) van het woonhuis is links voor de asymmetrische voorgevel van de schuur geplaatst. De voorgevel van het woonhuis is vijf traveeën breed. In de middentravee staat de dubbele, openslaande paneeldeur met segmentboogvormig bovenlicht. In de overige traveeën en in de top van de gevel bevinden zich vensters. In de asymmetrische voorgevel van de schuur is een rechtgesloten kozijn met korbelen en een dubbele openslaande wagendeur geplaatst. Circa een meter boven de grote wagendeur en in de top van de gevel bevinden zich halfronde gietijzeren vensters met radiale roeden. De achtergevel en linker en rechter zijgevel van de schuur zijn niet in detail bezichtigd.
De interieur van woonhuis en schuur zijn niet bezichtigd.
Waardering
De boerderij is van algemeen belang vanwege cultuurhistorische, architectuurhistorische, zeldzaamheids- en ensemblewaarde.

FARM with Flemish barn with central lengthwise section and dwelling house with recessed cornice-topped facade, main component of the farm complex at Kerkweg 3 at the edge of the village of Zuidland. The dwelling house was renovated around 1880 in Eclectic style. The barn was built in a Craft-traditional building tradition. It is one of the largest farms for mixed enterprise in the region with an elongated, three-aisle barn. In the central section threshing took place and hay was stored in the loft. In the left side aisle cattle were stalled.
The complex component has been scarcely altered.
Description
The farm is composed of a Flemish barn and a dwelling house placed in front of the right part of the barn's front facade. Both volumes stand on a rectangular floor plan and consist of one storey under an arched gabled roof. The barn was originally covered with thatch. The dwelling house is covered with hipped tuiles du Nord. On the ridges of the dwelling house built-up chimneys have been constructed, with flat coping and weather vane. In the middle above the front facade a round-arched roof dormer has been placed. The profiled round arch frames a fanlight, positioned above a closed, double-opening window. The dwelling house is provided with wooden profiled gutters on brackets. The facades of barn and dwelling house are built in red brick in Flemish bond. The facades have a low plastered plinth. The recessed front facade is crowned by a profiled cornice on eight consoles. Consoles have also been applied to the narrow ends of the cornice. The top of the quarter-circle-shaped recessed facade sections are covered with a hardstone coping.
In the facades of the dwelling house, beneath the segmental arches, there are partly single-pane windows and partly original T-windows with sash frames. The woodwork framing the windows is rounded at the corners. The entrance with segmental-arch-shaped fanlight in the front facade is framed by partly wood-carved, partly plastered pilasters, with rosettes and panels and a cornice on consoles. Above this the window is also framed with pilasters and a cornice. The fields above the entrance and below the fanlights are decorated with rosettes and consoles. Above and beside the fanlights of the windows are plastered, profiled mouldings on consoles and with cyma in the middle. The facades of the barn are provided with large double, opening carriage doors in a frame with corbels, two-part stable doors beneath a segmental arch and half-round iron windows, the larger format placed in the gable ends and the smaller format in the low side facades of the stalls.
The symmetrical front facade (north side) of the dwelling house is placed in front to the left of the asymmetrical front facade of the barn. The front facade of the dwelling house is five bays wide. In the middle bay stands the double, opening panelled door with segmental-arch-shaped fanlight. In the other bays and in the top of the facade are windows. In the asymmetrical front facade of the barn a closed frame with corbels and a double opening carriage door has been placed. Approximately one metre above the large carriage door and in the top of the facade are half-round cast-iron windows with radial glazing bars. The rear facade and left and right side facades of the barn have not been examined in detail.
