Inleiding
TOEGANGSHEK van de Algemene begraafplaats in Electische trant uit het midden van de 19de eeuw, geeft toegang tot het oudste gedeelte van de in 1829 gestichtte begraafplaats. Het bevindt zich op een damwand met duiker over de sloot langs de Vries Robbéweg.
Omschrijving
Het toegangshek bestaat uit twee gietijzeren pijlers met gevleugeld een zandlopermotief als bekroning, geplaatst op betonnen neuten. Tussen beide pijlers zijn twee smeed/gietijzeren, spijlen hekwerken met speerpunten geplaatst. De schuin tegen de damwand geplaatste lage hekwerken rusten op hardstenen neuten en bestaan uit vrij eenvoudige smeedijzeren spijlenhekwerken. Als balustrade zijn aan weerszijden van het oprijpad haaks op dit hekwerk smeedijzeren hekwerken met naar buiten gebogen uiteinden geplaatst. De hekken zijn voorzien van kruislings geplaatste spijlen en hebben een leuning met krulvormige beëindiging.

ENTRANCE GATE of the General Cemetery in Eclectic manner from the middle of the 19th century, provides access to the oldest section of the cemetery founded in 1829. It is located on a sheet piling with culvert over the ditch along the Vries Robbéweg.
Description
The entrance gate consists of two cast-iron pillars with winged hourglass motif as coping, placed on concrete plinths. Between the two pillars are two wrought/cast-iron, spiked railings placed. The low railings placed at an angle against the sheet piling rest on hard stone plinths and consist of fairly simple wrought-iron spiked railings. As balusters, on either side of the approach drive at right angles to this railing are wrought-iron railings with outward-curving ends placed. The railings are provided with crossed-placed spikes and have a rail with scroll-shaped termination.
