Inleiding
ONTVANGSTGEBOUW met bijbehorend SCHAFTLOKAAL gebouwd in 1940 in opdracht van de firma De Vries Robbé & Co. naar ontwerp van de architecten B. Merkelbach en Ch.J.F. Karsten.
N.B. Het gebouw is in 1996 naar de huidige lokatie, naar de overzijde van de Linge, verplaatst. Het ontvangstgebouw werd daar gespiegeld weer opgebouwd.
Omschrijving
Het ronde ontvangstgebouw is op een zeshoekige basis opgetrokken bestaande uit twee bouwlagen en met een eenlaagse, rechthoekige aanbouw. Oorspronkelijk sloot het licht gebogen schaftlokaal van een bouwlaag hierop aan. Het ontvangstgebouw bestaat evenals het schaftlokaal uit een staalskelet waarvan de onderbouw met halfsteens muren van gele baksteen gevuld is, de bovenbouw is voorzien van grote vensterpartijen met rondom een balkon dat rust op stalen kolommen. Het platte, betonnen dak steekt uit ter breedte van het balkon, waarvan de stalen balustrade gevuld is met draadglas.
In de schuine zijden van het pand zijn over de volle hoogte en breedte driedelige vensters geplaatst. De ingang van het pand ligt aan de westzijde en bestaat uit een stalen, met glas gevulde pui waarin een dubbele stalen deur met vensters geplaatst is. Tegen de oostelijke zijde van het pand bevindt zich de aanbouw die is opgetrokken in gele baksteen. De zuidelijke gevelzijde van de aanbouw heeft een gekoppeld bandvenster waaronder geklonken stalen platen zijn aangebracht. In de noordelijke gevelzijde is over de volle breedte en hoogte een samengesteld venster geplaatst. In de kopse gevel van de aanbouw is een tweede entree geplaatst.
INTERIEUR. Op de begane grond is door middel van een met glas gevulde stalen pui een kantoor afgeschermd. Een stalen, slingertrap leidt naar de eerste verdieping.
De vensters zijn voorzien van dubbele beglazing. De bovenlichten kunnen voor een optimale luchtcirculatie gekanteld worden. De vensters zijn voorzien van het oorspronkelijke hang- en sluitwerk.

Description
The round reception building is constructed on a hexagonal base consisting of two storeys with a single-storey rectangular extension. Originally, the slightly curved staff room of one storey adjoined it. The reception building, like the staff room, consists of a steel skeleton, the substructure of which is filled with half-brick walls of yellow brickwork, the superstructure is provided with large window sections with a balcony all around that rests on steel columns. The flat concrete roof projects to the width of the balcony, whose steel balustrade is filled with wired glass.
In the slanted sides of the building are three-part windows placed over the full height and width. The entrance to the building is on the west side and consists of a steel, glass-filled facade in which a double steel door with windows is placed. Against the eastern side of the building is the extension which is constructed in yellow brickwork. The southern facade side of the extension has a coupled band window beneath which riveted steel plates are attached. In the northern facade side a composite window is placed over the full width and height. In the end facade of the extension a second entrance is placed.
INTERIOR. On the ground floor an office is screened off by means of a glass-filled steel facade. A steel winding staircase leads to the first floor.
The windows are provided with double glazing. The fanlights can be tilted for optimal air circulation. The windows are provided with the original hinges and fasteners.
