Omschrijving
Segment van verdedigingswerk vesting Gorinchem, deel uitmakend van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Het werk bestaat uit een aanleg van aardwerken, gracht en bijbehorende bebouwing en objecten zoals hierna genoemd.
De aanleg is een onderdeel van de noord-noordoostelijke verdedigingswal van Gorinchem en omvat een bastion (bastion XI) en voorliggende natte gracht.
Op het terreplein van het bastion, nabij de rechterflank, bevindt zich een gemetseld, bomvrij, groot kruitmagazijn. Op het bastion, nabij de saillant, bevindt zich een aangeaarde VIS-kazemat van gewapend beton.
In de voorliggende natte gracht bevindt zich een dam, ten behoeve van een ontsluiting (zogenaamde Vijfde Uitgang), met daarin een duiker.

Description
Segment of fortification work of Gorinchem fortress, forming part of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. The work consists of an earthwork installation, moat and associated buildings and objects as named below.
The installation forms part of the north-north-eastern defensive wall of Gorinchem and comprises a bastion (bastion XI) and moat in front.
On the terreplein of the bastion, near the right flank, there is a brick, bomb-proof, large powder magazine. On the bastion, near the salient, there is an earth-covered VIS casemate of reinforced concrete.
In the moat in front there is a dam, for the purpose of an access (so-called Fifth Exit), with a culvert within it.
