In 1909 is er door sloop van vijf panden aan de Da Costakade ruimte vrijgekomen voor de bouw van een nieuwe CENTRALE UITBREIDING (2),onderdeel van het complex van de voormalige lettergieterij 'Amsterdam', voorheen N. Tetterode. De nieuwbouw is op een rechthoekig grondplan tot stand gekomen. De architect was ook hier J.W.F. Hartkamp. Het zes bouwlagen hoge gebouw verschilt in stijl volledig van het oudere deel aan de Bilderdijkstraat. De strakke voorgevel met gootlijst op klossen is opgetrokken uit baksteen en telt naast een hoge begane grond en drie verdiepingen en een, waarschijnlijk later verhoogde kap. De dwarskap telt zes traditionele dakkapellen. De voorgevel is sterk horizontaal geleed. De traditionele gevel is voorzien van series gelijkvormige kruiskozijnen en telt twaalf vensterassen. Het middenkalf is enkel of dubbel. De bovenlichten zijn geleed met een zes- of achtruits roedenverdeling. Op de begane grond zijn de kruiskozijnen hoger en hebben een glas-in-lood raamvulling bij de bovenlichten. Op de begane grond bevindt zich een brede vier-delige toegangspoort met natuurstenen enkadrering. Geheel links en rechts aan de voorgevel bevinden zich nog eenvoudige toegangspartijen. Boven de onderpui bevindt zich een natuurstenen tekstfries: Lettergieterij 'Amsterdam' Tetterode.

In 1909 the demolition of five buildings on the Da Costakade freed up space for the construction of a new CENTRAL EXTENSION (2), part of the complex of the former type foundry 'Amsterdam', formerly N. Tetterode. The new building was built on a rectangular ground plan. The architect was also J.W.F. Hartkamp here. The six-storey-high building differs in style completely from the older part on Bilderdijkstraat. The austere front facade with gutter line on brackets is constructed of brick and counts, beside a high ground floor and three storeys, a roof storey, probably raised later. The roof truss has six traditional roof dormers. The front facade is strongly articulated horizontally. The traditional facade is provided with series of uniform cross windows and has twelve window bays. The middle bay is single or double. The fanlights are articulated with a six- or eight-pane glazing bar division. On the ground floor the cross windows are taller and have a stained-glass window fill in the fanlights. On the ground floor there is a wide four-part entrance portal with natural stone frame. At the far left and right of the front facade are simple entrance sections. Above the ground floor is a natural stone text frieze: Lettergieterij 'Amsterdam' Tetterode.
