PORTIERSWONING behorend bij de historische buitenplaats Voorlinden is gebouwd in 1912 in Engelse Cottagestijl naar ontwerp van de architect R.J. Johnston in opdracht van Jhr H. Loudon.
De dienstwoning ligt aan de Buurtweg, bij het begin van de oprijlaan.
Omschrijving
Eénlaags woonhuis op plattegrond van een Latijns kruis onder een samengesteld afgewolfd zadel-schilddak met rode Engelse daktegels. De noklijn van de schilddaken is lager dan die van het wolfdak. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in rode baksteen in Vlaams verband. Enkele en samengestelde vensters met kleine roedenverdeling. Aan de oostgevel (straatzijde) een sterk risalerend bouwdeel met afgesnoten hoeken onder schilddakje. Drieledige hoekvensters met roedenverdeling. De ingangspartij met zijlichten bevindt zich in de zuidgevel die grenst aan de oprijlaan naar het landhuis. Op het dak een forse rechthoekige schoorsteenpartij. Het huis is via een gemetselde poort met houten deur verbonden met de hekpijlers aan weerszijden van de oprijlaan.
Waardering
De uit 1912 daterende portierswoning is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als historisch functioneel onderdeel van de buitenplaats Voorlinden en vanwege de Engelse Cottagestijl en gaafheid in hoofdvorm, materiaalgebruik en detaillering.
De portierswoning heeft ensemblewaarde vanwege de ruimtelijke samenhang met de overige complexonderdelen en de beeldbepalende situering aan de Buurtweg als entree tot de buitenplaats.

PORTER'S LODGE belonging to the historic country estate Voorlinden was built in 1912 in English Cottage style to the design of architect R.J. Johnston on the orders of Jhr H. Loudon.

Description
Single-storey dwelling house on a plan in the shape of a Latin cross beneath a complex vaulted saddle-hipped roof with red English roof tiles. The ridge line of the hipped roofs is lower than that of the half-hipped roof. The elevations are constructed in red brick in Flemish bond. Single and composite windows with small glazing bars. On the east elevation (street side) a strongly projecting building section with cut-off corners beneath a small hipped roof. Three-part corner windows with glazing bars. The entrance arrangement with side lights is located in the south elevation which borders the drive to the country house. On the roof a substantial rectangular chimney stack. The house is connected via a brick gateway with timber door to the gate piers on either side of the drive.
Valuation
The porter's lodge dating from 1912 is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural-historical value as a historic functional component of the country estate Voorlinden and because of the English Cottage style and integrity in principal form, materials and detailing.
